Questions about the cold wave

Cold wave and cold front are different concepts. Generally speaking, cold air in the north forms a cold front when it passes through the border, but the cooling range varies greatly due to the strength of cold air. In China, the definition of cold wave is that when cold air passes through the border, the air temperature drops to 10 degrees Celsius within 24 hours, and the minimum temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius. This weather process is called cold wave. Cold wave is a kind of disastrous weather, and its influence on agricultural production is particularly obvious.

There are three main ways in which cold waves occur. Upstairs should be a cold wave weather process formed by blocking high pressure. That is to say, the cold high pressure develops to the east of Ural Mountain, and the high pressure system is blocked by the transverse trough in the east, which makes it impossible for the high pressure system to move eastward and southward, so cold air accumulates in Lake Baikal. When the cold air reaches a certain height, the transverse trough collapses and the strong cold air moves south rapidly, forming a cold wave weather process from south to north in China.
