Guanzhong refers to where it is now

Guanzhong refers to the central part of Shaanxi Province, including xi 'an, Baoji, Xianyang, Weinan, Tongchuan and Yangling, with a total area of 55,623 square kilometers and a permanent population of 23,850,600. It is located in the north of China, one of the four geographical divisions.

General situation of Guanzhong

Guanzhong, the place name, refers to the "four passes", namely Dongguan, Xiguan (Great Earthquake Pass), Nanguan (Languan) and Beiguan (Jinsuo Pass). The average elevation of Guanzhong is about 500 meters, so it is called Weihe Plain, Weihe Valley, Guanzhong Basin and Guanzhong Plain. Its north is the Loess Plateau in northern Shaanxi, and its south is the mountainous areas in southern Shaanxi and Qinba Mountain areas. It is a densely populated area with developed industry and agriculture and rich land in Shaanxi, so it is known as "Qinchuan in 800 Li".

Guanzhong history

Guanzhong is close to Qinling Mountains, and Weihe River passes through it, with rich products and outstanding people. There are natural terrain barriers on all sides, which are easy to defend but difficult to attack. Since the Warring States period, there has been a saying of "one country, four blockades". Therefore, in the Han Dynasty, Zhang Liang summed up the advantages of Guanzhong with "a golden city of thousands of miles" and persuaded Liu Bang to make it the capital of Guanzhong. During the Warring States Period, Zhang Yi told Qin Chen about the plan of "Lian Heng", praising Guanzhong's "fertile land, rich people, numerous chariots, tackling difficult problems in all fields, fertile land for thousands of miles, and little accumulation", and said that "this so-called rich land is also a country under the world", which was awarded the title of "Land of Abundance" much earlier than Chengdu Plain. This is because Guanzhong has become a treasure trove of geomantic omen and the capital of emperors since Zheng Guoqu was restored in the Warring States Period.
