Looking for tips on a self-guided tour of Xi'an and Huashan on New Year's Day.
Huashan Mountain is not closed until the middle of January every year.
1. Terracotta Warriors, Qin Shihuang’s Mausoleum, Huaqing Pool, Huashan (*** two days):
Take bus No. 914 (the last bus) at the East Square of Xi’an Railway Station (in front of the train station ticket gate) It is best not to take the bus, take the low-speed, very slow), 915, and You 5 buses. First, go to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, and then take the above-mentioned buses from the Terracotta Warriors and Horses to the Mausoleum of Qin Shihuang. From Qin Shihuang’s Mausoleum, take the above bus to Huaqing Pool. There is no need to climb Lishan Mountain (because you still have to climb Huashan Mountain). After visiting Huaqing, you can take a long-distance bus in Lintong to Huashan. It usually takes less than three hours from Lintong to Huashan. Climb Huashan that night. If I arrange it this way, you won’t have to travel a long way and you can save a day’s accommodation fee.
The entrance ticket to Huashan is 120 yuan, the student ticket is 90 yuan, and there is an additional 5 yuan for insurance.

2. Famen Temple, Zhaoling Tomb, Qianling Tomb (*** two days):
Take the No. 2 bus at the East Square of Xi'an Railway Station (You 2 has two buses , one trip goes to Famen Temple, and the other goes to Taibai Mountain. Be careful not to take the wrong one.) There is one trip every day at 8:00, and you take the bus to Famen Temple. After visiting Famen Temple, take a bus from Famen Temple to Fufeng. At Fufeng County, take a bus bound for Liquan, Qianxian, Yongshou and Bin counties. Get off at Liquan County and change to a bus bound for Yanxia and Beitun. Zhaoling Museum; After visiting Zhaoling, take a bus to Qian County in Liquan. Stay one night in Liquan or Qian County.
After visiting Qianling Mausoleum, take a bus back to Xi'an in Qian County (tour 3 from Qianling Mausoleum back to Xi'an departs from Qianling Mausoleum at 3 pm). Qianxian County's Guokui is very famous and can last for a week without breaking.
3. Shaanxi Provincial Museum, Tang Furong Garden, Qujiang Aquarium, Han Kiln, Qujiang Heritage Park, Big Wild Goose Pagoda North Square, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an Museum Stele Forest, Ming City Wall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower , Bell and Drum Tower Square, Hui Street (*** two days).
1. (First day) The Provincial Museum is now free. It is recommended to go to the Provincial Expo first because the Provincial Expo is now free but not free (bring a valid ID to get the ticket). There are more people visiting every day. If you don't go early, the queue time to get tickets will be longer. You can take bus 5 or 30 at Xi'an Railway Station after returning from Qianling, and get off at Cuihua Road. About 100 meters east of the Cuihua Road intersection, there is a 7 Days Inn on the north side of the road. Very close to Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Accommodation there is also relatively cheaper.
2. After visiting Shaanxi Expo, you can take the bus to the South Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and enter the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
3. After visiting the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, take the bus at the South Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, get off at the Tang Furong Garden, and enter the Tang Furong Garden.
4. Exit from the south gate of Tang Furong Garden and take the bus or walk to Qujiang Aquarium.
5. From Qujiang Ocean World to Qujiang Heritage Park.
6. From Qujiang Heritage Park to Hanyao (the place where Wang Baochuan and other Xue Rengui lived for eighteen years).
7. After visiting Hanyao, take bus 22 at the west entrance of Hanyao Road and get under the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Go to the North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda to see the musical fountain (the musical fountain in the North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the largest musical fountain in Asia. It is best to watch the 9pm show with music and lights).
8. (The next day) Take bus 521 and bus 8 (610) on Cuihua Road and get off at the Small Wild Goose Pagoda.
9. Take the Wulong Special Line and Route 40 from the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, and go under the Wenchang Gate. Once you enter the Wenchang Gate, you will find the Forest of Steles Museum.
10. Visit the Forest of Steles Museum. You can go west along the south wall of the Forest of Steles to the Shuyuanmen Pedestrian Street (Shuyuanmen Pedestrian Street is full of calligraphy and some handmade products. Generally, just look at it and don’t buy it. If you really want to buy it, just buy some gadgets. Be careful. Zaiyo) Go to the south gate and climb the city wall from the south gate.
11. After getting off the city wall, take the bus or walk to the bell tower. If you want to go up to the Bell Tower, go down to the underground passage of the Bell Tower and buy a ticket to go up to the Bell Tower. After visiting the Bell Tower, go from the Bell Tower Square to the Drum Tower (it is recommended not to go up to the Drum Tower after going to the Bell Tower). After visiting the Drum Tower, you can enter Hui Street from the Drum Tower. Where is the most comprehensive place for Hui snacks in Xi'an?
12. If you have enough time, you can go to Luomashi Pedestrian Street, 200 meters east of East Street east of the Bell Tower.
Important additional information for the self-guided tour of Xi'an Huashan
If you plan to climb Huashan during this trip, pay attention to the weather forecast and take no moderate rain as the bottom line; at the same time, try to arrange the climbing day at a later date so as not to affect your physical strength for visiting other attractions.
The main points and expenses for food, accommodation and transportation during this trip:
Food:
Lunch is basically a simple meal at the scenic spot
Dinner : Datang Tongyifang (Bar Street next to Big Wild Goose Pagoda) Korean BBQ 200 yuan
Huimin Street 100
Fanji Chain 35
Daxingshan Temple Plain Noodles 25
The night market in Xi'an is very lively, so you don't have to worry about being late and running out of delicious food. It can be more exciting the longer it goes up, especially in the summer.
Stay: Hanting Xiaozhai Branch
Evaluation: Passed. Advantages: It is next to the Shaanxi Museum and there is Xingshan Temple Food Street nearby; Disadvantages: It is a 10-minute walk from the public transportation, which is not very convenient. It is 15 yuan to take a taxi from the train station; the hotel service staff is not familiar with local transportation, weather and other information .
Tickets total 550 per person
Transportation total 300
After getting off from Xi'an Xianyang Airport, if there are more than 3 people (inclusive), it is recommended to take a taxi directly. The fare to the city is 100 . If there are few people, taking the airport bus costs 25 yuan per person. There are two terminals 1 and 2. China Southern Airlines is at 1 and most flights are at 2. You can take the airport lines to the Bell Tower, Railway Station, and Oriental Hotel. They are all in the city and not far from each other. The distance from Line 1 to the Bell Tower is half an hour, and the other distances are one hour. Regardless of whether the seat is full or not, the service will be served when the time comes. Therefore, it is recommended to exchange distance for time and use whoever opens first as the standard. It takes 1 hour from the airport to the city.
There is a bus parking lot in front of the train station. Tour 1 (Huashan), Tour 2, and Tour 5 (Huaqing Pool, Terracotta Warriors and Horses) are all there. Other tour buses are not necessarily dark, but they are definitely private. For safety reasons, take state-run tour lines. The sales staff wear uniforms and the bus logo "Shaanxi Tourism..." is clearly marked. The sales staff are very enthusiastic and professional. This is very commendable.
If you want to take a taxi in the train station area, you have to go farther and the taxi will stop.
The total local consumption for a couple of 2 people is 3,200 yuan, plus 2,500 yuan for air tickets. The total consumption for this trip is 5,700 yuan.
Main itinerary:
Outbound trip China Southern Airlines CZ6437 Shanghai Pudong to Xi'an Xianyang Airport 1205-1315
Return Hainan Airlines HU7845 14:45-16:50
Afternoon of the first day: near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Tang Dynasty Furong Garden< /p>
The second day: Huaqing Pool Terracotta Warriors and Horses Hui Street
The third day: Huashan
The fourth day morning: Shaanxi Museum Daxingshan Temple
Afternoon of the first day
The original plan was to visit Xi’an’s landmark Big Wild Goose Pagoda. However, due to the flight delay, it was already 4:30 when we arrived in the city, and we did not catch up with the opening time of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (it ended at 5 o'clock).
After a simple check-in, take a taxi and go straight to Tang Furong Garden (ends at 10 o'clock in the evening in summer).
The current annual promotional ticket price is 45 yuan.
Furong Garden is a man-made Tang Dynasty cultural theme park. The layout, cultural atmosphere and activity arrangements of the park are good and it is worth the price.
The lion dance performance that started at 6 o'clock in the evening was very exciting, with a high degree of difficulty, and could not be compared with the Caotai troupe.
The floats and water curtain movies started in 2015 are okay. It can be called the largest water screen movie in Asia, but it is by no means the most exquisite. The water curtain movies in Singapore that I have seen before seem to have better animations and artistic designs.
The water curtain movie 2050 ends. We left earlier and rushed to the North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in 15 minutes at a faster pace to watch the world's largest musical fountain. This performance starts at 9pm in the summer. The musical fountain itself is average, but the crowd of more than 10,000 people watching is even more spectacular. There are many activities in the square, including organized vendors and local people dancing. It’s a great way to quickly experience the local nightlife culture.
There is no time to eat until ten o'clock in the evening. I chose to have a late night snack at Datang Tongyifang that I just discovered. This street is a bar street, just west of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is quite similar to Hengshan Road in Shanghai.
The next day
Take Tour 5 (306) at the train station and arrive at Huaqing Pool in less than an hour. The whole journey is 7 yuan. Route 306 passes through Huaqing Pool, Lishan Mountain, Lintong Museum, Underground Palace, Mausoleum of the First Emperor, and Terracotta Warriors.
Ticket fee for Huaqing Pool is 70 (Jiulong Lake, Tang Yutang Site, Five Halls at the Xi'an Incident Site)
Mainly learn about the bathing culture of the Tang Dynasty. The most impressive thing is not the site of the Xi'an Incident, nor the bathing culture of the Tang Dynasty. I highly recommend that everyone spend 20 yuan to sit in the beautiful garden and soak in the hot springs, which is very refreshing. If there are two people, it is a good choice to have a cup of tea. If there are four people, it is a good choice to play a few decks of cards.
If I hadn’t missed the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, I would have been reluctant to move my feet.
Get off at the door and get on 306. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. For a battery fare of 5 yuan, you can take the bus directly from the ticket office to the inner gate.
Terracotta Warriors tickets are 90 yuan (pits No. 1, 2, and 3, bronze chariots and horses).
If there are few people, there is no need to hire a tour guide.
Because there are tour guides everywhere, just listen.
Pit No. 1 is the largest, most completely developed, and has good momentum, and is worthy of being called the Eighth Wonder. But not as grand as I imagined. No. 2 and 3, there is almost nothing interesting inside. Good things either fade away when they are unearthed, or they are moved to various indoor exhibition halls.
On the contrary, the two bronze chariots and horses of the "Bronze Crown" in the showroom are so exquisite that they are shocking. Truly the "Crown".
You must pass through the antique street when you come out. It is recommended to look for blue field jade. Buy some mid-range products with high cost performance, which are good souvenirs. I bought a pendant and bracelet for ***200. It feels good on the hand.
It was nearly 6 o'clock when we returned to the city. In the rain, I didn’t have the heat or energy to cycle around the ancient city walls I longed for, or visit the Bell Tower and Drum Tower.
I still have to go to Muslim Street. But the psychological expectations are lower. Muslim Street is located directly behind the Drum Tower and has no archway. It's chaotic, but full of lively and casual atmosphere. The mutton steamed buns are really good, and we also picked the steamed buns that were cut into pieces to save ourselves the effort.
I seriously don’t recommend the meat skewers that cost 5 cents each. They are all muscle-stretched and difficult to chew. It's cheap, but almost all of them are thrown away. It’s better to buy the kind that costs 2-3 yuan a bunch, which is pretty good.
I bought specialties: jujubes, sour plum soup, and trinkets from the stalls.
Those little accessories are so nice, I bought 6 necklaces at once.
It is also recommended to buy more jujubes. I did not buy the most popular jujubes, but the more expensive jujubes, which have a more delicate taste. I suggest you buy more if possible.
The third day Huashan
Take a tour from the train station at 7 a.m. (the only one departure for tour 1) is 22 yuan per person. Directly to Huashan. Arrive in 2 hours via expressway. Remember there are two departures for the city tour, 4pm and 5pm.
I really couldn’t catch up, so I took the bus to the tourist distribution center of the train station. It was full of people.
Other guides are inaccurate about the pick-up and drop-off locations for Tour 1 in Huashan. Here is a serious correction:
Tour 1 goes directly to the ropeway ticketing point. This is the same place when you come back. Don't be misled by the passengers on other buses.
Buy tickets for 120 RMB (I did not ask for 5 RMB insurance) and scenic minibus tickets (20 RMB for round trip)
You cannot buy cableway tickets here.
Take the scenic minibus to the cableway station. Buy a cableway ticket here for 150 yuan per person for a round trip.
If it is not a big festival, the queue situation is not bad.
If you are not a very physically strong person, don’t save money on the minibus and ropeway rides. When you get to the halfway point, you will find that all the high prices here are justified.
It is recommended to buy gloves that cost 1 yuan, they are quite strong and practical. There are quite a few restrooms on the mountain, but every one of them smells bad. Try not to go there if you can, it tastes very unappetizing.
There are five peaks in Huashan.
For those who are of average physical strength and do not plan to spend the night on the mountain, it is recommended to climb the West Peak and return to the South Peak at most.
The path to climb the mountain is: after going up the mountain from the ropeway, you will reach the North Peak area. Do not climb to the bottom. The Huashan Swordsmanship stone is new and not interesting.
Climb the ladder from Canglong Ridge to Jinsuoguan. This section is a test of most people's physical strength. If you are too tired after this period, you should seriously consider climbing a few peaks by yourself.
Among the arduous crawling team, there were also several men carrying burdens. I picked up supplies and went to the hotel on the mountain. Looking at their hardships, you will understand why prices in the mountains are several times higher than down here.
When the extension line of the cableway is built in Huashan, prices will probably go down.
To give you another choice, in fact, the scenic spot has created another road, the "Feiyuling Complex Road", which was built to stagger the ascent and descent of the mountain. People with poor physical strength are advised to take this complex route directly up the mountain, as the road is much smoother. The disadvantage is that Canglong Ridge is a famous landmark, so it would be a pity to miss it completely.
After my husband arrived at Jinsuoguan, he had completely collapsed. Because of his rest and pause, I gained some breathing time and climbed to Jinsuoguan in a relatively normal manner.
When you arrive at Jinsuoguan, you have to choose between turning left to the East Peak or right to the West Peak and South Peak.
Select the right side.
The next hill is Zhenyue Palace. I spent a lot of money (25 yuan) to buy egg noodles for my husband one night here. As soon as the hot noodles arrived, it immediately dispelled my husband's chill and fatigue, greatly motivating him to continue moving forward.
Up above is Cuiyun Palace on Xifeng, which is a famous Taoist temple. It took us 2 hours to get from the end of the ropeway to Xifeng Cuiyun Palace. Xifeng is indeed the most beautiful peak in Huashan, especially the way from Cuiyun Palace to Zhongfeng, which is quite green and beautiful like the National Forest Park. I took a lot of beautiful photos here.
When I went up the mountain, I came down from the end of the ropeway and ran directly to Cangluling without passing the ladder along the way. But when I was coming down, I accidentally passed the ladder to heaven. The so-called ladder is a bit exaggerated. At most, the stairs are very narrow and you need to climb them upside down.
We returned to the ropeway station relatively early and caught up with the 4 o'clock tour back to the city.
Day 4 Morning Shaanxi Museum
Shaanxi Expo is free to visit with a ticket. Invoices start at 8:30, and each person has one ticket with their ID card. The queue was long and slow.
Mainly, there is one window for tourists from other provinces, and everyone has to register their identity, which is very bureaucratic.
There will be a paid exhibition until September, priced at 20 yuan per person.
Don’t hesitate, pay as soon as possible, you can save a lot of time.
If you want to send a large package, you can bring a camera but you cannot use a flash. There is a guide machine available at the door for 20 yuan/3 hours. Pay 100 yuan and ID card as collateral. It is recommended to borrow one, otherwise many cultural relics will not be visible.
If you still have some time after leaving Shaanxi Expo, I suggest Buddhist friends to visit the nearby Daxingshan Temple.
After enjoying the incense inside, we ate vegetarian noodles and felt very good.
