There is a place named "Huilong Bridge" in the west of today's Hefei City. Although the bridge no longer exists, the place name remains. The legend about the bridge has a long history, but it is still talked about by many people today. There are two legends about it:
One theory is that when Sun Quan of the Eastern Wu Dynasty led his troops to invade Fei, Cao Cao suddenly came out of Zangzhoupu. Sun Quan saw Cao Cao's ship protruding, and saw the vast blue waves of Zangzhou Pu and the deep reeds. He suspected that Cao Cao was cheating, so he smiled and said to Cao Cao, "I'm fine. I didn't expect you to come so quickly." Cao Cao also reluctantly responded with courtesy. He said: "I'm here, don't have any illusions about Soochow, I hope the general will take care of it." Sun Quan saw that the attack was ineffective, so he turned back. From this, the bridge here is named "Huilong Bridge" ("Huilong Bridge" in the "Luzhou Prefecture Chronicle" contains: "It is said that Cao Cao and Sun Quan were in a stalemate over this Huilong Festival").
Secondly, it is said that one of the noble concubines of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty was the goddaughter of Sima Gong of Hefei. One day, the imperial concubine invited the emperor to visit relatives in Hefei. In order to allow the emperor to enter the city directly across the Fei River without passing through the city gate, local officials decided to build a bridge in the west of the city. Unfortunately, the important officials of the imperial court dissuaded him from this matter, saying that there were "Zhanlonggang" and "Meilongba" in Hefei, which violated the sacred taboos and made his journey unlucky. Therefore, the emperor's decision to personally drive to Hefei was made. The bridge built to welcome the emperor was later named "Huilong Bridge", which means that the emperor (the real dragon emperor) has returned. The old site of the bridge is on the south side of the west section of today's Changjiang Road.
Shengshengqiao. According to legend, a long time ago, there was a big black dragon in Dali Haizi. Because he lost a treasure robe, he got angry and blocked the tail of the sea in Eryuan. The level of the Erhai Lake rose higher and higher, destroying many rural houses and making the people hungry and cold. At this time, a son of a Bai woman volunteered, intending to go into the sea to eliminate harm to the people. He wore a bronze dragon head on his head, iron claws on his hands and feet, a sharp knife in his mouth, three knives tied to his back, and one in each hand. He jumped into the sea and turned into a little yellow dragon. With his great wisdom and courage, the little Huanglong fought with the ferocious big black dragon for three days and three nights in the sea, and finally defeated the big black dragon. The big black dragon had nowhere to escape, so he drilled a hole in the big rock under Jiangfeng Temple and fled towards the Lancang River. This cave is the Huishui Cave under today's Tiansheng Bridge
Tangqiao - According to legend, the Jifang Bridge in Sanguan (now Guangming) Town was originally a broken bamboo bridge, which was very dangerous for pedestrians. One day, a sugar exchanger passed by and said, "This bridge has not been repaired? If I have money, I can build a new one." Once, the sugar exchanger was in a dilapidated house with official history, and exchanged a Jin Mi Tuo became rich from then on. So, he raised first-class stone materials, hired skilled craftsmen, demolished the bamboo bridge, built a three-hole stone arch bridge, and named it Jifang Bridge. In order to commemorate him, the locals call it "Sugar Bridge".
Tanqin Bridge - A few hundred meters north of Nanqiao Town, there was a small stone bridge named Tanqin Bridge. It is said that a long time ago, there was an official named Qian who had three daughters. The youngest daughter played the piano well. There was a young man named Han Chong nearby, who was also a master at playing the piano. As time passed, the two became close friends and fell in love, but Mr. Qian refused, so the daughter had to persuade Han Zhong to go to the capital to study piano and gain fame so that her father would agree to their marriage. Han shed tears and left. But Qian forced the little girl to marry a powerful man. The little girl missed Han Zhong and died with hatred. Soon, Han Chong returned and learned that his lover had passed away. He sat cross-legged on the small stone bridge and played sad songs to express his memory. After playing, he took the harp and threw himself into the river.
Emperor Qianlong looked at Gaoqiao - there is a stone arch bridge in Gaoqiao Town, Fengcheng, which was built in the sixth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty. According to legend, a local squire was out and someone asked him where he was born. He said Takahashi. The man asked again how high the Takahashi was? He boasted: "When I fell on the first day of the lunar month, there was a thumping sound in the middle of the moon." This incident was reported to Emperor Qianlong, which aroused interest in traveling to the south of the Yangtze River to see the high bridge. The ship entered the Huangpu River from Dianshan Lake and sailed directly to Fengxian, passing by Desheng Port. Qianlong asked: "Where is this place?" The attendant replied: "This is the port of victory." When Qianlong heard the word "shengsheng", he was overjoyed and ordered him to return to the court. Qianlong returned to court on his way back to Coke and killed Takahashi Squire. Fortunately, he avoided a catastrophe of deceiving the emperor and killing him.
Mahjong Bridge - During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, a bridge was built on the Jinghe River in Huazhi, named Mahjong Bridge. There was no bridge here before, making it very inconvenient for pedestrians. There was a local old man surnamed Zhou who hated private gambling very much. He invited more than 10 knowledgeable people to surround the casino, catch the gamblers, confiscate their financial bets, and destroy their belongings. The bridge was built with the confiscated gambling money. Now it has been destroyed.
Shaipanqiao - In the early days of liberation, there was a Xiaoqiao Village in Zhuangxing. I don’t know when it started, but it was regarded by a Fengshui master as a Fengshui treasure land with the "Three Yuan Undefeated".
One day, two Feng Shui masters came to Xiaoqiao Village with their compasses, and they both wanted to find a "land where dragons show off". I saw loud singing and red flags waving at the head of the village, and farmers were engaged in spring plowing. When the two Feng Shui masters saw this, they shook their heads and sighed: "Feng Shui is not good at all. Don't lie to people anymore." After that, they threw the compass in their hands on the bridge and the fragments flew everywhere. From then on, the small bridge was called "Shapan Bridge".
Jade Crab Bridge - Xinya Village, Jintouqiao Township, originally had a stone bridge with three heads facing north and south, so it was named Stone Crab Bridge. According to legend, there was a stone crab chiselled on the west side of the original bridge. People often mistakenly thought that a real crab was on the bridge, hence the name. One day, a treasure hunter from Jiangxi Province discovered the stone crab and stole it on a snowy night, leaving only a crab-shaped concave shape on the bridge. People thought that what was stolen was not an ordinary stone crab, but a jade crab. From this, Jade Crab Bridge became famous.
The legend of Qiancheng Bridge
It is said that the Cuo Bridge was built and then destroyed. Detouring around the cliff and going back and forth with difficulty, I sighed while looking at the river. Zhou Daquan of the Qing Dynasty was a philanthropic man who was restless about building bridges. One night, Zhou Daquan dreamed of a golden rooster descending to earth and standing on the river, with its outstretched wings just on both sides. In the hazy moment, he saw a Bodhisattva standing on the chicken's back, directing the water to both sides. When he woke up and saw the morning light, Zhou Daquan suddenly realized what he was dreaming about and thought it was a divine instruction. He immediately stepped forward to raise funds to rebuild the Cuoqiao Bridge and hired skilled craftsmen from all over the world. Based on the memory in his dream, he designed the entire bridge in the image of a rooster. For the sake of good luck, people call the bridge Qiancheng Bridge.
