About the legend of Shuanghe'er Mountain
Shuanghe'er Mountain and the Archer There is a Shuanghe'er Mountain in the Agula Town area in the south of Horqin Grassland. Although the mountain is not high, it looks like a huge rock flying from the sky in the vast desert grassland. There is a touching story about the origin of this mountain.
According to legend, a long time ago, Gesr Khan led an army to chase the demon Python Gusi, who fled eastward in panic. On this day, it fled to the Agula area of Horqin Grassland. It saw smoke and dust billowing behind it and the sound of killings shook the sky, which frightened it out of its wits. Just as he was about to catch up, the cunning Python Gusi suddenly changed into a hare and hid in the grass. The hound in front of Gesrhan's horse saw it and ran towards the hare, barking wildly. Seeing that the situation was not good, Python Gusi immediately turned into a tit and flew into the sky. At this moment, the falcon on Gesrhan's shoulder spread its wings and pounced on it, grabbing the chickadee's throat with its sharp claws like steel pliers. Pythongus showed his original shape, struggled hard, and thrust the sword into the chest of the falcon, causing large drops of blood to sprinkle on the grassland. But the falcon's sharp claws still refused to let go. It grabbed Python Gus, circled more than ten times, and slowly landed on the prairie. Soon, a huge mountain grew up where the falcon landed. In order to commemorate this heroic falcon, Gesr Khan named the mountain "Shuanghe'er" (meaning eagle in Chinese).
Thousands of years have passed, and the place has gradually become prosperous. The Mongolian people have multiplied and herded under the Shuangheer Mountain, forming countless small villages. The herdsmen live a happy and peaceful life.
One day, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty passed by here on his inspection tour. He saw a high mountain rising from the ground on the endless prairie. He was very strange, so he asked his followers, but no one knew. Back in the capital, Emperor Kangxi had a dream. He dreamed that an eagle flew from the north, circled the palace three times, and then flew away. Emperor Kangxi was very suspicious and restless for several days, so he ordered a Feng Shui master to realize his dream. Mr. Feng Shui thought for a while and said, "I'll forgive you, my Majesty, this dream is very bad. The eagle is a hero who is born to threaten the country. I will go and see for myself." Mr. Feng Shui disguised himself as a herdsman and came to the foot of Shuanghe'er Mountain. The herdsman told him this The name of the mountain is "Shuanghe'er", which means Eagle. Mr. Feng Shui returned to the capital and immediately informed Emperor Kangxi and said to him: "In my opinion, before the eagle takes flight, build a white pagoda on the mountain to calm it down; at the same time, build a white pagoda on the eagle's head. In this way, the Emperor Kangxi was overjoyed and ordered Mr. Feng Shui to supervise the matter.
Two brothers lived at the foot of Shuanghe'er Mountain. The elder brother was named Uligi and the younger brother was named Bater. The two brothers were good at riding and shooting, and were well-known as good hunters in this area. People called them the "Great Archer" and the "Little Archer". Mr. Feng Shui came to the foot of Shuanghe'er Mountain and immediately summoned the brothers and herdsmen to read out the imperial edict. Then he threatened: "If we don't repair the White Pagoda and Aobao, war will break out here, and your good life will be over!" The herdsmen talked about it, some thought it was right to build it, and some thought it was wrong. Mr. Feng Shui took out some silver to bribe the brothers. The elder brother was very happy, but the younger brother disagreed, and the two brothers quarreled. The elder brother said: "When the golden phoenix flies over the grassland, the herdsmen will have happiness and good fortune; when the white pagoda is built in Shuanghe'er Mountain, the grassland will have peace." The younger brother said: "The Zaoliu horse travels thousands of miles a day on the grassland. , because there is no restraint of the reins; with the white tower pressing on the eagle, can we still be free?" The elder brother said: "The Zaoliu horse looks even more handsome with the golden saddle! The fifteen obaos built on the grassland make it even more beautiful. Rich and beautiful, brother, you are so confused!" The younger brother said, "The colorful rainbow rising in the blue sky is a symbol of beauty; the colorful halo surrounding the moon is the coming of disaster." The two brothers argued! His face was red and his ears were red, and he refused to obey anyone. The two stubborn brothers proposed an arrow contest. Whoever shoots off his hat will lose. The elder brother knew that the younger brother would not admit defeat. I thought that for the sake of the peaceful scene of the grassland, my brother was ruthless, so he aimed the arrow at his brother's heart. The younger brother also knew that his elder brother would not give in. He thought that for the sake of the freedom of the grassland people, the younger brother was cruel, so he also aimed his arrow at his brother's heart.
With a shout, two arrows were fired together. With a "dang" sound, sparks flew out, and the two arrows collided together and fell to the ground.
The two brothers were so angry that they shouted in unison: "The horses will not enter the sheep, and the wells will not interfere with the rivers. Even if we are not of the same mind, then you will take your Yangguan Road and I will take my single-plank bridge. Let's see!" The younger brother packed his bags and left without looking back. The elder brother looked at his younger brother's back, thinking that his stubborn brother would never give up, so it would be better to let him die on the road. So he opened the gate of the pen and released a male camel. This camel, which had been tied up in the pen for many days, became extremely ferocious when it was let out. It sprayed white foam from its mouth, held its head high, and ran along the road huffing and puffing.
My younger brother, Barter, was walking on the road when he suddenly heard a thumping sound from behind. He turned around quickly and saw his own big camel running towards him. He understood, cruel brother, you are going to kill me! Quickly get out of the way. The big camel pounced in the air, and then pounced on Battle. Battle ducked again, and the camel pounced in the air again. Three times in a row, the big camel was exhausted, panting, and lay on the ground unable to get up. Barter walked over, grabbed the camel's head, twisted it several times like a hemp rope, and then stuffed the camel's head into the grass nest under it like a straw buckle. The big camel suddenly ran out of breath.
My brother Ulji sat at home and waited, but did not see the male camel come back. He knew that his younger brother was very talented and must not have achieved his wish. So he opened the pen door and released another red camel. This is a snake-headed camel. It is not as stupid as the big camel, panting when running, but like a snake, it lowers its head and makes no sound. The red camel also ran along the avenue.
It was getting dark, and Battle was tired from walking, and his stomach was rumbling. Ignoring the cool breeze blowing from behind, he hurriedly turned around and saw that a rising red camel had arrived a few steps behind him, and it was too late to dodge. At this critical moment, a female camel appeared behind the sand on the roadside. The red camel abandoned Bartel and ran towards the female camel. Battle broke into a cold sweat.
After Battle left, Ulji and Mr. Feng Shui led the herdsmen to build day and night. Not long after, a white pagoda stood up on Shuanghe'er Mountain, and fifteen obaos were also lined up in a neat line in front of the mountain. Mr. Feng Shui also took the opportunity to plunder a large amount of people's wealth. Who knows, the white tower just built the next day suddenly collapsed with a crash. Mr. Feng Shui and Wu Liji couldn't figure it out, so they built it day and night. However, it was just built one day and turned into ruins the next day. In this way, three buildings were built and three collapsed. After the White Tower was completed for the fourth time, Uligi quietly hid behind the White Tower to see what happened. The night slowly passed, and the east had just turned white. Ulji suddenly discovered that Battle was drawing a bow and arrow far away, aiming at the White Tower. He understood that it turned out that the three collapses of the White Tower were caused by Battle. It was too late, but it was too late. He hurriedly drew his bow and arrow and shot towards Battle with a "swish" sound. Before Battle's arrow could be fired, he staggered and fell.
Uliji rode on a fast horse and galloped to his brother Battle. Battle stood up from the pool of blood, glanced at Uligi, used all his strength, rounded the bow again, and shot an arrow, which shot through fifteen obaos at once. Then he took out another arrow, put it on the bow and prepared to shoot at the White Tower. However, he didn't even have the strength to draw the bow and fell into a pool of blood. Before dying, Battelle said to Uligi: "If you still care about brotherhood, bury me where the arrow fell. Wherever the arrow points, my head will point."
Bat'er After his death, Uligi saw his brother's tragic situation before his death, and his conscience was condemned. According to his brother's will, he found the place where the arrow fell. The arrow penetrated fifteen obos, and the arrow still pointed south, so he buried his brother there with his head facing south. On that day, the herdsmen came to the funeral with their young and old in tow, and they all couldn't help but burst into tears. At this time, people were surprised to find that two water bubbles appeared in front of Shuanghe'er Mountain. From a distance, they could see the clear water waves shining under the gray sky. People say that those are the two tears shed by the eagle.
From then on, the eagle was restrained by the White Tower, and the demon Python Gus succeeded again. He used magic to control the wind and rain. Soon, the strong wind stirred up rolling yellow sand, swallowing up the grassland here, and half of Shuanghe'er Mountain was buried by the yellow sand. So far, people can only see the solitary eagle head; twenty miles to the west and half a mile to the east, there is only one piece of rock left, which is the two wings buried by the wind and sand. However, the two water bubbles in front of the mountain were still full of tears, reflecting the Shuanghe'er Mountain and the white pagoda eroded by wind and rain.
In order to commemorate Battelle, people called the place where the big camel died "Xizhigula" (referring to Battelle stuffing the camel's head into the grass nest), and called the place where the female camel appeared "Wu". "Lanying" (meaning female camel in Chinese).
