Zhuo Ga’s character story

The first female postdoc in meteorology in Tibet:

A modest and studious female postdoc

Zhuo Ga, this young female scientist with many auras, is the first The impression is that she is very humble. According to people who know her well, in her daily work, the words she uses most frequently when communicating with her compatriots and colleagues are "genla", "jue" and "ajia" (which means teacher, brother and sister in Tibetan). ). Even after winning the highest honor for young female scientists in China and facing the "well-deserved" praise, Zhuo Ga still maintained his consistent style and only said that he was lucky and ordinary.

In 1989, Zhuo Ga was admitted to Nanjing Meteorological Institute. For four years, she has been the study committee member of the class, and her academic performance has always been the first in the class. After graduation, she was assigned to work in weather forecasting at the Tibet Autonomous Region Meteorological Observatory.

Zhuo Ga, who has always dreamed of greater development, is not satisfied with the status quo. She still insists on studying after work. In 1994, she and five colleagues participated in the master's tutoring class and examination of Nanjing Institute of Meteorology, and she was one of them admitted. After getting her master's degree, a broader world appeared in front of her. She immersed herself in books. Those meteorological data, charts and documents were like holy books in the eyes of others, but she tirelessly read and recorded them. , thinking, atmospheric science, with its ever-changing attitude, has exerted endless charm on Zhuo Ga.

After graduating with a master's degree in 1998, she was admitted to the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences to pursue a doctoral degree. During this period, she systematically understood and mastered the impact of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau on weather and climate, read a large amount of research on plateau thermal conditions, the impact of the plateau on the monsoon outbreak, etc., and wrote tens of thousands of words of reading notes. In September 2002, Zhuo Ga, who graduated with a Ph.D., was not in a hurry to return to work. She applied to Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, to engage in postdoctoral research. A year later, she returned to her hometown where she had been away for many years and became the first female postdoctoral fellow in meteorology in Tibet.

The passionate female scientist

Everyone who knows Zhuoga knows that she is a versatile Tibetan girl with a wide range of interests. She especially loves singing. Whenever she sings the song " If it is the grassland, it will open its green mind, if it is the eagle, it will always hover in the blue sky, if it is the child, it will always be attached to its mother." The famous Tibetan song is full of charm. Thinking back to the time when she completed her postdoctoral research at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, she resolutely gave up the superior work and living conditions overseas and threw herself into the arms of her mother in her hometown who gave birth to her. She is truly worthy of being a filial daughter who loves her mother.

Whenever the topic of returning to her hometown comes up, Zhuo Ga said that the most unforgettable thing for her was the long conversation she had with Academician Chen Lianshou before graduating from her master’s degree. Academician Chen Lianshou is a famous atmospheric scientist in my country, and Zhuo Ga also mentor. On the eve of her master's degree graduation, Mr. Chen asked her where she would go after graduation, and she firmly answered that she would go back to Tibet to work. Mr. Chen was very satisfied with her answer, which was exactly what he thought. His students can withstand too many temptations and return to their hometown and work in places where talents are most needed. This shows his success and the maturity and soundness of his students' personalities.

Zhuo Ga said, “In 2003, after I completed my postdoctoral research at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and returned to my hometown, I discovered that I was so attached to this land. I love this place so deeply.”

This calm and simple sentence fully reveals the love and affection of this young female scientist who is reluctant to leave the country.

Female meteorologists who have made great achievements in the field of plateau atmospheric research

Everyone in the industry knows that the large-scale abnormal thermodynamic effects of the Tibetan Plateau and its geophysical processes have a profound impact on our country. It has an important impact on climate change and the formation of disastrous weather in Asia and even the world. It is a hot research area that has attracted much attention in atmospheric science. We carry out weather forecast research on the Tibetan Plateau and deepen our understanding of the impact of the Tibetan Plateau on my country's weather, climate and climate change. , the development of climate businesses and services plays a very important role in improving the accuracy of forecasts.

Zhuoga is well aware of this and has also contributed his share to atmospheric research on the Tibetan Plateau. He has always been proud to be engaged in scientific research in the field of the Tibetan Plateau.

In these years of study and work, Zhuo Ga has participated in the national key scientific and technological research project "Research on the Formation and Prediction of Major Drought in Northwest China", and the National Science and Technology Climb - Project B Second Atmospheric Science of the Tibetan Plateau Experiments, the National Ministry of Science and Technology's research on ecological climate environment monitoring and forecasting methods in northwest my country and other major research projects. And use the coupled mesoscale meteorological model (MM5) and biosphere model (SiB2) to study the interaction between the Tibetan Plateau and atmospheric circulation, especially the atmospheric planetary boundary layer. Alone or together with her colleagues, she has completed more than 10 projects including "Preliminary Study on Climate Change in the Tibetan Plateau in the Past 40 Years". At the same time, she has also published more than 10 papers with certain academic research value in authoritative meteorological academic journals such as "Journal of Applied Meteorology" and "Plateau Meteorology"... She has begun to show her talents in the field of plateau atmosphere research and is full of confidence in her future research work.
