There is a saying in the countryside that "the height in the east is not high, but the height in the west is broken". What does it mean?
There is still a lot of concern for the elderly in rural areas, especially for the old customs that have always existed in rural areas. There is such a sentence: "The height of the East is not high, and the height of the West is broken." This sentence made many rural people hurt their feelings because of building a house. So what does this sentence mean?
"The height in the east is not high, but the height in the west is broken" is a custom aimed at building houses, and it can also be said to be a feudal superstition. According to the old people in the village, the dragon is in the east, which is to attract the god of wealth, and the white tiger is in the west, which means evil. Only when the East is high and the green dragon overwhelms the white tiger can it bring good luck to the family. If the western sky is high and the white tiger surpasses the green dragon, it means the beginning of disaster. Therefore, when you build a house, you should pay great attention. You must be taller than others. If the west neighbor's house is taller than your own, you want to rip off someone else's house.
But generally speaking, most rural people will negotiate before building a house to keep the pattern of the house consistent, and everyone's house is at a height. Otherwise, everyone will be higher in the east, and then higher in the east, so that the house in that village will not build a high ladder and extend into the sky. So everyone's house is only the same height is the best solution.
But now that everyone is not so rigid, there will be some flexible methods. If the west side is higher, add a few bricks to the house in the east, and the whole will be consistent. Moreover, if some family conditions permit, houses will be built to two or three floors, and villages in cities near some big cities will even be built to five or six floors, so everyone doesn't care so much about this custom.
In the future, with the country's planning for the new countryside, everyone's houses will certainly be more consistent and standardized, and this custom of "the east is not high, and the west is broken" is also doomed to disappear in the countryside.
