Nanjing is Zhu Yuanzhang’s place of prosperity. Why did he spend his whole life thinking about moving the capital?

In history, Zhu Yuanzhang can be said to be a legend among legends. He started out as a cowherd boy and eventually conquered the world. Some people also say that Zhu Yuanzhang's father was buried in the sky for hundreds of years, but is it really as magical as the legend says? Zhu Yuanzhang's father was arranged by God to be buried at the foot of the mountain at the place where the dragon veins flourished. What about the Ming Dynasty's hundreds of years of foundation? Nanjing was the place where Zhu Yuanzhang made his fortune, so why did he spend his whole life wanting to move away? Because of Feng Shui.

The theory of Feng Shui has been passed down for thousands of years, and even today many people believe in its power. Of course, I don’t completely believe it myself, but I don’t completely regard it as feudal superstition either. After all, existence is reasonable, and many of the theories of Feng Shui in modern society already have scientific explanations. It is not all mysterious. Some people say that why Zhu Yuanzhang moved away is because although Nanjing is the ancient capital of six dynasties, there is no long-lived dynasty. There is also a saying that Zhu Yuanzhang continued to expand his territory for the sake of eternal hegemony.

During the Hongwu period, Nanjing suffered countless casualties in order to build the Forbidden City. In order to occupy the leading position and dominate the world, Zhu Yuanzhang even summoned hundreds of thousands of people to fill the lake. However, the rear palace failed to meet people's wishes. The terrain of the palace was high in the front and low in the back. With the death of Queen Ma fifteen years after Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang lost several of his heirs one after another. It made him hate Nanjing even more. But at the end of his life, Zhu Yuanzhang failed to move the capital until his death. The Ming Forbidden City in Nanjing also experienced more than ten fires, large and small, which can be said to be a series of disasters.

However, after moving to Beijing, the Ming Dynasty did not last long and perished. It was not so much Feng Shui as it was due to human power. After all, so many people died during the construction of the palace, even a real Feng Shui treasure would be ruined by this deathly resentment. True Feng Shui should be in harmony with the weather and the seasons. It’s not surprising that a forced change of fortune will backfire on oneself.
