A complete poem about the fields with multiple tombs on the mountain tops in the north and south
The original text of the poem is as follows:
There are many tombs on the north and south hills, and the Qingming Festival is different.
The ashes of paper fly into white butterflies, and the tears and blood turn into red cuckoos.
The fox sleeps on the grave at sunset, and the children return home at night in front of the laughing lamp.
If there is wine in life, you must be drunk. Never does a drop reach Jiuquan.
Translation:
There are many cemeteries on the North and South Mountains. During the Qingming Festival, people are busy visiting the graves to pay homage.
The ashes of burned paper flew everywhere like white butterflies, and the blood and tears shed from crying dyed the cuckoos all over the mountain red.
At dusk, the silent cemetery is desolate, except for the fox lying on the grave and sleeping. The children returning home at night laugh happily in front of the lamp.
Life is like this. If you have wine now, you should get drunk now. After a hundred years, not even a drop will be carried to the ground.
Poetry Appreciation
The first couplet "There are many tomb fields on the north and south hills, and the Qingming Festival sweeps these fields." The title generally describes the main activity of Qingming Day: tomb sweeping. The sentence begins with the location of tomb-sweeping. Cemeteries are generally arranged on barren hills, which does not occupy cultivated land and has better feng shui. "Cemetery" means a cemetery. The second sentence says that Qingming sacrifices and tomb-sweeping activities are very popular. "Fenran" indicates that there are many people, and it also shows that the tomb-sweeping time is different.
The chin couplet "paper ashes fly into white butterflies, tears and blood dye into red cuckoos." Following the above, the specific circumstances of the memorial ceremony are written. The money written on the paper with three sentences was burned to ashes and then fluttered in the air. "Paper" refers to paper money, also known as ghost coins. The superstitious saying is that after the ghost coins are burned, they can be used by the dead in the underworld. "White butterfly" is a metaphor for paper money flying in the air after being blown by the wind. The poem says that people were so sad during the memorial ceremony that they cried and cried so much that the azaleas were dyed red.
