Autumn wind treasures the warmth of summer
"Summer Swan" First Reading No. 2
Reading
***Reading Prepare
"One autumn rain and one cold, ten autumn rains require wearing cotton." The sunny weather seems to have come to an end with summer. This week, the continuous rain gave the children more time to stay in the classroom, and the first reading for our teachers and students also officially kicked off.
After the parent-child reading, the children are already familiar with the plot of "Summer Swan". After the warm family reading, what else can the children read from the book? What about something deeper?
When I was thinking hard, a teacher seminar lit up the light for me. Teacher Huang reminded us in the teacher's guide that we can design the reading activities for this *** reading in conjunction with the "questioning strategy" proposed in the fourth-grade Chinese textbook. After reading the book carefully again, our ***reading journey begins...
Part1? Growing Pains
***Read the new book in the first week During the meeting, the children had questions about the cover of the book and part of the content in the book. For example:
Why is the book called "Summer Swan" but there is a boy and a girl on the cover?
Why does Sara say she likes her orange sneakers, but then says she hates them?
Why did Sarah say "If you are smart, you are smart"?
As teacher Huang Rusi said, most children in the fourth grade, especially boys, have never experienced the moment of excessive self-focus. In the first round of *** reading, the children’s questions Most of them are puzzled by Sarah's troubles. Therefore, the first reading of our first section mainly focuses on "growing pains".
First, let’s find out what Sarah was worried about before her brother was lost? At this stage, the children automatically formed a reading group, opened the book again and read the first few chapters, sketching and recording at the same time. After a while, the key information was recorded on the reading list.
Although some of the children’s questions are still unanswered, I know that the teacher cannot answer the question about why Sarah pays too much attention to herself. This understanding of life is also It cannot be obtained in one question and one answer.
So, I asked the children to think carefully about the five things that they think are most important and troublesome at this stage when they go back, and record them on the reading list.
"How much sorrow can a teenager have?" We often think that teenagers have no worries. Perhaps, we do not pay attention to their worries.
Part2? Complaint Conference
Recruitment
It is time to share their troubles. The children are looking forward to it but also a little shy. Because it is true talk, it is even more important. Think carefully.
I asked the children to speak out their troubles loudly, and use the method of complaining to let the worries in their hearts be released through everyone's listening and encouragement. While listening, record the worries of others alongside your own.
The complaining meeting began. The children raised their hands high and couldn't wait to share their thoughts, big and small, that they had not made public.
"I am not satisfied with my height. I am afraid that I will not grow taller in the future."
"My teeth are crooked and I always dare not open my mouth when I smile. "
"I am not satisfied with my figure, but my parents force me to eat two bowls of rice every day!"
"My grades are not good."
< p> "I often have stomachaches that interfere with class.""My sister is very annoying."
"Mom and dad always quarrel."
"Every time My good friend complained about me when I did well in the exam.”
“My good friend has alienated me recently.”
“I am afraid that I will lose my friend.”
…
Although it is said that "young people don't know the feeling of sorrow, they forcefully talk about it in order to compose new words." When I recorded the children's worries, I felt for the first time that the children really had worries.
After the exchange, I asked the children to compare their own worries with those of others to see if there are any similarities or differences.
Among the worries of children, they are more or less concerned about their appearance, their academic performance, and their interpersonal relationships. These troubles are real because they are the only way for people to understand themselves.
It is human nature to pay attention to oneself. Excessive attention to oneself is, in a sense, a deeper self-awareness process.
For the evening homework, I asked the children to think again about what you think is the most important thing in your future life.
The things that children mentioned most were “honesty”, “friendship”, “family affection” and “ideal”.
After comparing with other people's worries, some students found that their own worries were not worth mentioning at all, some found that they were really "worrying too much", and some found that they were just "worrying in vain".
As a result, the children silently corrected their hearts. They accepted the attention on themselves and at the same time wanted to put their attention on more important things.
They long for authenticity, long for trust, long for companionship, and long for beauty.
The saying "complaining too much will prevent heartbreak, and it is better to take a broad view of the future" is turning from expectation into reality.
Part 3? Braveheart
The third reading list is to reread the chapter of "Looking for Charlie" and then list the people and things that changed Sarah. In "Summer Swan", as moving as the family love is the friendship between several children. There is Mary who accompanies Sarah from beginning to end, and Joe who "turns an enemy into a friend". Sarah and Joe's journey together to find their younger brother is also a time when Sarah breaks away from prejudice and learns to reconcile with herself and the people around her. The process of making peace with the world. After re-reading this chapter, the children suggested that today’s homework be to write a letter to express your true feelings to the people who are important to you.
I was pleasantly surprised and agreed to the children's proposal.
The next day, the children generously handed me their letters. I always felt that I should not read the children’s letters to another person, but the children trusted me unconditionally, so , I acted openly and openly as a thief who broke into the inner world of children, reading the joys, sorrows and joys in their hearts, and feeling the world of innocence.
In the afternoon self-study class, I returned the letter to the children and asked them to read the letter to the person who should receive the letter.
The children were instantly excited. Their eyes eager to receive the letter and their nervousness waiting to hear what was in their hearts turned into touching pictures.
Nothing touches people more than telling the truth.
Some students are writing to people who are not in the class. I ask them to go home in the evening and make a video call to read the letter, so as not to miss this opportunity to gather courage.
"After a Letter" in the diary faithfully records each touching scene.
Part 4? What is more important?
Sarah said: "If you are smart, you are smart. If you are cute, you are cute. If you are useless, you are useless." ”
Is this really the case? How big a role does appearance play in life?
To this end, we held the first "Swan Cup" debate competition.
The positive side thinks that appearance is very important to others, while the negative side thinks that appearance is not important to others. Since it was the first time for a debate competition to be held, the children had to learn the debate process and techniques from scratch, and they were constructing their own debate outlines in their notebooks while learning.
After the group discussion, the debate officially began.
Although it was the first time to participate in a debate, the students really enjoyed this activity of persuading each other with reason and evidence. Both the pros and cons could give examples to express their opinions. At the end of the debate, everyone gradually understood that the meaning of appearance in life is far less than a person's quality, talent and hard work.
When a person attributes all the dissatisfaction in his life to his appearance, he will definitely not be able to get out of his own quagmire.
Part5? The Stairs of Life
In the last chapter of "Summer Swan", Sarah saw herself wearing a prison shirt, sitting on the huge steps, and everyone was Appearing on the dazzlingly white stairs, my father was sitting on the bottom step, not wanting to work any harder.
These metaphors were really difficult for children to understand at first. In the final analysis and discussion session, the children reread this chapter.
In this week’s first reading, the children faced their own troubles and glimpsed the troubles of others. In the letters of self-expression and communication with others, we gradually stepped out of ourselves and looked at the people around us. Far away, after the debate, the students also understood that the road of life is not a one-way street.
After re-reading this time, everyone seems to gradually understand...
"I think the steps of life are the difficulties in life."
" The step that Sarah just stepped over was the step where her brother Charlie disappeared."
"I think it was also the step where she was too focused on herself."
"Everyone was sitting on the step. It shows that Sarah no longer only sees herself."
"The step that dad can't cross must be the death of mom..."
Listen to the children. Speaking, my heart was filled with emotion.
Our children grew up in this book.
This kind of growth in sexual ability is invisible and intangible, but it can indeed be felt.
The autumn wind is bleak, but I feel extremely warm at the moment. This book has retained for us the warmth worth hiding in our hearts.
