There is a saying in the countryside that "there are few descendants in the grave, and there is no grass and no property on the grave". What does it mean?
Grave collapse is not necessarily rare, and it is not necessarily rare. The tombs in the countryside have collapsed, which shows that no one has come to repair them in time for a long time, reflecting from the side that there are few descendants of the tomb owner. Although this is reasonable, it is not absolute. Because the ancient emperors had the system of "seven temples for emperors", that is, they worshipped their ancestors (such as Taizu) and the ancestors of the last six generations, and those ancestors in the middle moved to the temple because of their "closest relatives", that is, "Jia".
Graves collapsed, and ancient children's graves were all piled up with mud, which would be trampled down after the storm. If no one repairs and takes care of it, it will naturally become a wild grave that nobody cares about. The neglected wild grave indicates that the descendants of this grave may be gone or forgotten by future generations. This sentence does have some truth. Without descendants, the grave will collapse after the wind and rain, and it can be seen from the grave whether the family of this dead person is prosperous or not.
The phrase "no grass on the grave, no property" is a bit feudal. Usually when we go to the grave in Tomb-Sweeping Day, we will remove the weeds and trees around the grave, but the grass on the grave can't be removed. There is long grass in front of the grave, which shows that the soil is good and the water is enough, which is good for the ancients. If there is no grass on the grave, it means that the soil and water in this land are not good, and naturally it is considered that Feng Shui is not good. The feudal thought of the ancients was that poor geomantic omen in ancestral graves would affect the wealth of the next generation, so people who were buried in rich families would find a geomantic master as the graveyard of their ancestors.
"There are few children and grandchildren when the grave collapses, and there is no grass on the grave. That is to say, if the grave of an ancestral grave collapses, then the children and grandchildren of this family are few and far between. If nothing grows on the grave of the ancestral grave, then the descendants of this family will be poorer and it will be difficult to find a way to make money. In our countryside, descendants who are far away from home during the Qingming Festival will try their best to "catch up with graves thousands of miles away", even more urgent and necessary than going home for the New Year. Because people pay attention to repairing ancestral graves, they can only do it during the Qingming period, that is, the first four days and the last three days of Qingming, for a total of seven days. Even if a hole is found in the ancestral grave, it is not allowed to move casually.
