Basu County is affiliated to Qamdo City in the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located in the east of the Tibet Autonomous Region and southeast of Qamdo City. It is located in the upper reaches of the Nu River, bordering Zuogong County and Chaya County to the east, Chayu County to the south, and Chayu County to the west. It is close to Luolong County and Bomi County of Linzhi City, and to the north is Karuo District and Leiwuqi County of Changdu City.
