How deep is ice fishing suitable?
In cold winter, the water temperature under the ice 1m is close to zero, which is not suitable for fish activities. 1.5-2m water, the temperature gradually rises, and there are fish around 4-8℃. The accumulated water below 2m is generally at 10- 12℃, which can be used in special waters.
There is no ice fishing and no fish in the water layer within the range of 1 m. Ice fishing is always done below one meter. If the weather gets warmer for several days and the water temperature under the ice rises, fishing can be shallow, and about two meters is the most suitable. If the temperature drops gradually, it should be deeper, about 3 meters is appropriate.
Ice fishing depends not only on the water depth, but also on the place where winter rain gathers. In natural waters, fish usually gather in ravines, deep pools, warm places, or under or beside aquatic plants, or in deep nests where mountain roots enter the water. It is effective to dig holes and fish in these suitable fishing places in winter.
When ice fishing, fish have a characteristic of eating hooks: the rate of eating hooks is low in the morning, high at noon and gradually decreasing in the afternoon. After 16, the basic fish will not bite. Therefore, if there are no fish to eat at noon, we should consider changing places, otherwise we will not get anything from ice fishing all day.
