Longqing Gorge is located in Yanqing County, Beijing, 85 kilometers away from downtown Beijing. The Gucheng Village at the entrance of Longqing Gorge is said to be the garden palace of Empress Dowager Xiao of the Liao Dynasty. It was a tourist attraction during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Longqing Gorge was named after Emperor Renzong of the Yuan Dynasty was born in the nearby Xiangxiangyuan Village. After he ascended the throne, Jinshan was renamed Longqing Prefecture. There is an ancient city village at the entrance of Longqing Gorge. It was called Huayuantun in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
