Temple history of Shuangfeng Temple
In the 1th year of Shaoxing in Song Dynasty (AD 114), Jieyang County was relocated, which was the year when Zen master Fashan founded Jieyang Shuangfeng Temple and became a jungle in the city. The original site is located at the southern foot of Shuang Shan, Guiling, Jiedong County (known as Panxi Capital in ancient times), and the two peaks in the back mountain stand side by side. There is a natural boulder with a height of 6 feet called "Stone Mother" on the top, and there are many surrounding scenery, which used to be called "Two Peaks and Eight Scenes". The scale of the temple is grand and spectacular, and it is also known as the three famous temples in Chaozhou, together with Kaiyuan Temple in Chaozhou and Lingshan Temple in Chaoyang. During the festival of good wishes, the more officials and gentry in the city, the more people who bathe in the mountains to pay homage to the Buddha. From the official road to the "Dinggai Mountain" three miles away from the temple, they dismounted and walked into the temple to show their piety. According to folk legend, when Shaoxing rebuilt Jieyang County for ten years, geographers believed that "earthworm" traveled from the Dragon Neck of Lianhua Mountain to Shuang Shan, with the peak of ***99, and then to the east was Pingchuan, and Yujiao Village was "the bell of aura". Therefore, as the 99th peak, Shimu Mountain became a treasure trove of geomantic omen, and the Shuangfeng Temple was built. It is a comprehensive deposit of ancient Jieyang culture.
