Reflections on visiting Huang Tingjian’s tomb
When I returned home during the Spring Festival, my family made a special trip to visit the ancient tomb of Huang Tingjian, a famous local sage in our area. The ancient tomb is located in Shuangjing Village, a place where "Hangshan is surrounded by green mountains and clear waters." This village is very It is beautiful and a famous scenic spot in my hometown. The tomb is located next to a field in the village, surrounded by tea gardens. It is a cemetery like an open courtyard surrounded by white walls. The south of the cemetery faces open fields and the famous Mingyue Bay in the distance. Mingyue Bay, where the Seven Hundred Miles River turns, leaving a bright moon bay. It is said that Shuangjing Village could produce such a famous figure in China. 48 Jinshis have been born one after another, and it is known as the "No. 1 Jinshi Village in China" because of the Feng Shui here. Above the south gate building is an inscription of "Valley Garden" written by Shen Peng of the Chinese Calligraphy Association. On the left and right sides are the inscriptions: "Hangshan is surrounded by green and clear water, and the waves are flowing here. The soul of poetry here is called the originator. The left army is named by the history of the right army. Mr. Range Rover's brushwork will shine for thousands of years." Union. I'm actually not very good at describing some scenery. I think the land of China is beautiful and there are so many famous scenic spots. And once a big shot appears, the characters will be connected with each other, which will make many attractions even better. Many masters often make people feel immersed in the scenery when they describe it, and the scenery under their pens often appears vividly on the paper. I feel that I cannot do this at all, but I still write the above words in the hope that more people will see Shuangjing Village, visit there and learn about the sage Huang Tingjian. But what I want to write down more is some thoughts that Huang Tingjian gave me as a cultural symbol of his hometown.
When I was a child, my grandfather and the others often told me stories about Huangshan Valley. Tingjian was named Valley, and my hometown used to call him Mr. Valley. From my understanding at that time, my grandfather’s impression of Huangshan Valley was that of a literary star descending from heaven to earth. He had been gifted since he was a child, and his poetry had become famous far and wide since he was a child. My grandfather once told me a story, saying that someone from Chang'an heard that the valley had made a good poem. However, after meeting him, he saw a little cowboy and couldn't help but feel a little disdainful, thinking that he was bragging. Gu Gu was asked to compose a poem on the spot, but when Gu saw the visitor looking disdainful, he deliberately made things difficult for him. A "Cow Herding Poem" was born under such circumstances, "Riding a cow far past the Qian Village, I could hear the piccolo blowing across the long distance. There are many wealthy and famous people in Chang'an who are not as good as you if they run out of agencies." The visitor was blushing after hearing this, but he could not help but praise Gu's talent from the bottom of his heart. Grandpa and the others had not read many books, and they always believed that Gu was extremely talented. They even placed the story of another very famous talent in Jiangxi, Jie Jin, on Gu. For example, there is a very famous couplet, "A door to a thousand people" There are bamboo poles and thousands of books in the house." According to legend, Xie Jin, a famous scholar in the Ming Dynasty, had a bamboo forest right in front of his house. On New Year's Eve, he posted a Spring Festival couplet on his door: Opposite the door are thousands of bamboos, and there are thousands of books in the house. The owner of the bamboo forest, a local rich man, saw it and wanted to embarrass Xie Jin, so he ordered people to cut down the bamboo. Xie Jin understood what he meant, so he added a word to the upper and lower couplets, which became: Thousands of bamboos are as short as the door, and thousands of books are in the home. The rich man became even more angry when he saw it and ordered the bamboo to be dug up by the roots. Xie Jin laughed secretly and added another word to the upper and lower couplets: There are thousands of bamboos in front of the door, but there are thousands of books in the home. The rich man finally had no choice but to bow his head and admit defeat. This story comes from Baidu, but I still remember very clearly today that when my grandfather told it to me, his protagonist was Huang Shangu. I am not denying Huang Shangu’s talent. Grandpa and the others admired him very much. They always believed that Huang Shanshan became a very big official with his talent, and his official position became bigger and bigger. His official position was just like his talent. It's always been smooth sailing.
Gradually, as I grew up, my understanding of Huang Tingjian gradually began to enrich. He was indeed very talented, but his official career had always been very bumpy. Almost all of his official positions were sinecures. It is an official position for proofreading and cataloging. Su Shi and Huang Tingjian, both known as "Su Huang" in the Song Dynasty, were relegated to Hainan and Guangxi respectively because they were not tolerated by those in power, such as Cai Jing and Zhao Tingzhi. Su Shi once wrote a poem about his being relegated, "The heart is like a gray tree, and the body is like a boat without ties. I heard about your achievements in life, Huangzhou, Huizhou, and Danzhou." He wrote that he became more and more devalued along the way. South's situation. Huang Tingjian is similar. Two of his poems also describe his situation, "I am the only one who can lead me thousands of miles away. Looking back, who is better? There was no great place in the beginning, and there is no more today." "The past is not what it is today, and this year is like last year." "There are many tigers and leopards in Jiuguan, and we talk about being immortals on earth." Grandpa and their wishes are beautiful. Today, I asked the old people in my hometown. Many people talked about the valley and didn't know much about his career, but when they talked about calligraphy and poetry, Then gushing.
"Valley Wine", "Valley Tea", "Valley Road", "Valley Poetry Society" and other various names appeared in his hometown to commemorate him. I think this is also a part of the innocence of my hometown. In fact, my hometown does not care about him. No matter how big an official you are, will your official career be smooth and soaring into the sky? This does not mean that there are no high-ranking officials in my hometown. In Hangkou, the same town as Huang Tingjian, there was Zhang Jian, the prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty. However, not many people know his name. I think it is similar across the country. Why have people in my hometown commemorated Huang Tingjian for more than a thousand years? There are as many high officials in history as there are stars in the sky, but there is only one Huang Tingjian. I think his calligraphy should be ranked among the top ten in Chinese history. He is one of the few figures in the history of calligraphy. He is a member of the Jiangxi Poetry School. Founder. His charisma, his integrity as an official, and his uprightness. Regarding the points mentioned above, I think you can find many, many articles, so I will not describe them in detail.
Finally, let me talk about some of my personal views. Influenced by my grandfather, when I was a child, Huang Tingjian was in my mind like a literary star descending to earth, omnipotent. As I grow older, Huang Tingjian becomes more and more important to me. He is becoming more and more flesh and blood. He is a leader in the field of calligraphy, leaving behind outstanding calligraphy works such as "Songfeng Pavilion" and "Zhu Shangzuo Tie". He is the founder and leader of Jiangxi Poetry School. He put forward the saying of "turning iron into gold and transforming the body into gold". He was upright and upright as an official, but he had few ambitions in his life. I think everyone sees Huang Tingjian differently and has their own different thoughts. Those who like calligraphy will pay more attention to his calligraphy works and copy them. Those who like poetry will read his poems, such as "Peach and Plum Spring Breeze and a Glass of Wine." "Ten years of light in the night rain in the rivers and lakes" has such a profound artistic conception that people can't help but understand its charm. Those who care about their career will understand why they were depressed and frustrated in their lives and learn lessons from it. My wife, on the other hand, was busy paying homage in front of Gu Gu’s tomb, praying that my child would be exposed to Gu’s talents and that he would be able to study in the future. This is indeed good, I also have this idea, but in my subconscious, the valley is not a god. The main reason why Huang Tingjian is commemorated is that he made outstanding contributions in his field. In fact, many literati in Chinese history have always been good in officialdom and business. Not very successful, but in the long river of history, this is not what I want to fight for. Shen Wansan can be said to be rich, but I think his fame may not be as great as Huang Tingjian. Shi Chong and Wang Kai fought for wealth, so they are not not rich. Today, I guess there is no such thing in his hometown. Who will commemorate them, and officials in Chinese history are like crucian carp crossing the river. There are countless official positions, but not many can leave a good name. From these aspects, Huang Tingjian is definitely successful. Although literati have their own lofty ideals, after thousands of years, no one will remember your original career. My childhood impressions are vague. Today, when I see some records of Huang Tingjian, I will pay special attention to them. Sometimes when I encounter something I don’t understand, I will go to the Internet to search for information about him. I think it is the same for everyone. My views as a child will be different from those today, and I need to slowly improve them. Historical figures will gradually have their own understanding in my heart. Maybe as time goes by, my understanding of Huang Tingjian will be different. But recording it today is also a reflection now.
I originally wrote this article during the Spring Festival, but because I was too busy, I kept reminding myself when I returned to Foshan that I finally finished it today. Shuangjing Village is so beautiful. Although it is close to the neighboring town, it has never been possible before. As I walked along the beautiful Xiujiang River, there were green mountains on both sides, surrounded by green bamboos, birds singing and flowers fragrant, green water flowing, and the air fresh. I felt like I I rarely pay attention to the beauty of my hometown, but Shuangjing gave me another understanding. The smoke from the kitchens here is curling up, and there are still old people working hard in the fields as the Chinese New Year approaches, which vaguely brings me back to my childhood. Next year I will go home to the Chen family mansion in Taoli, the hometown of Chen Yinke, the master of Chinese traditional culture.
