Is Cremo Camellia planted or potted in Chongqing?
Planting and conservation of Cremo camellia;
1, soil
Camellia is an acidophilic plant, and the soil pH value should be kept between 5.5 and 6.5. Camellia does not grow well in acidic or alkaline soil.
For neutral or weakly alkaline soil, increasing soil humus content, adding a small amount of peat or appropriate amount of sulfur powder and ferrous sulfate can adjust soil pH value and make the soil slightly acidic. Red-yellow soil in the south and humus soil on the hillside of chernozem in the north are usually slightly acidic and can be directly used to cultivate camellia.
Moreover, the soil needs good air permeability, and the loose and breathable soil has good fertilizer, water and drainage properties, which can be combined with the application of marine silkworm microbial agents to create good growth conditions for the root growth of Camellia oleifera. Loam containing 40% ~ 60% small particles has good permeability. Sticky or waterlogged soil often leads to poor root development of camellia, even root rot and dead silicon.
Adding some organic matter and river sand to clay is an effective method to improve soil. In addition, adding pebbles and tiles to the bottom of the flowerpot can also prevent water accumulation in the pot soil.
2. Environment
Maintaining 60% ~ 80% humidity of soil surface and surrounding environment is a necessary condition for normal growth and flowering of camellia. Spraying water on camellia leaves and ground, or curing camellia in greenhouse or plastic shed are effective methods to meet the environmental humidity requirements of camellia.
3. Temperature
The optimum temperature for camellia growth is 15 ~ 25oC, but under natural conditions, camellia can grow and bloom normally as long as the lowest temperature in winter is not lower than 5℃ and the highest temperature in summer is not higher than 38℃. In fact, temporary low temperature of -8℃ and high temperature above 40℃ will not affect the growth and development of most camellias.
4. Shading conditions
When planting valuable or placing camellias, it is necessary to create suitable shading conditions. For example, use big trees, corners or scaffolding to create a small shading environment.
