Character Profile: Late Ming Dynasty Thinker and historian in the early Qing Dynasty. Huang Zunsu’s eldest son. Zunsu impeached Wei and castrated him to death. Emperor Sizong of the Ming Dynasty came to the throne. At the age of nineteen, he went to the capital to sue for grievances. After returning home, after funeral arrangements were completed, he concentrated on his studies. Initiated by Liu Zongzhou. The Qing army went south and fought against the Qing Dynasty under the command of the King of Lu. He was appointed as the chief official and was changed to the supervisory censor and the left deputy censor. After Huang Zongxi entered the Qing Dynasty, he wrote and lectured, and more and more scholars from all over the world followed him. During Kangxi's reign, he recommended Hongbo and the "History of the Ming Dynasty" to be compiled, and both of them spoke vigorously. His studies teach people to read the classics and history, and they are especially deep in history. He wrote "Confucianism Cases of the Ming Dynasty" and "Study Cases of the Song and Yuan Dynasties" (unfinished), and collected articles by Ming people into the "Mingwen Cases", which was also expanded into "Mingwen Hai". There are also chronicle books such as "Longwu Annals" and "Yongli Annals", which are collectively called Xingchao Lu. Poems include "Nan Lei Wen Ding", "Nan Lei Shi Li", etc. The portrait of Huang Zongxi is taken from the first volume of "Portraits of Scholars in the Qing Dynasty", copied by Ye Yanlan of the Qing Dynasty and painted by Huang Xiaoquan. The portrait of Huang Zongxi was taken from the "Genealogy of the Huang Family in Yuyao, Zhejiang" compiled in 1928. The full-length portrait of Huang Zongxi was taken from a drawing by Ren Xiong in the Qing Dynasty, written by Wang Ling and engraving by Cai Zhaochu. The head portrait of Huang Zongxi was taken from "Journal of Chinese Culture" in 1905.
