At the beginning of the story, in Sherman's class at school, a girl named Penny laughed at Sherman as a dog, because Sherman had a dog father, and Sherman wouldn't let others insult his father, so they scuffled. The boy bit the girl in a rage. Therefore, Mr Peabody was called to the office by the headmaster. Because Sherman bit someone, Ms. Yin Hanyu, a lawyer, wanted to break up the relationship between Mr. Peabody and Sherman and terminate Mr. Peabody's adoption right to Sherman.
