Shunyi District is located in the northeast of Beijing, between 40 0o'-4018' north latitude and 0/6 28' east longitude. It is adjacent to Pinggu in the east, Huairou and Miyun in the north, Changping and Chaoyang in the west, and Tongzhou District and sanhe city in Hebei Province in the south. Total area 102 1 km2. Shunyi District has a long history. The Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period belonged to Yan State and the Han Dynasty belonged to Yuyang County. Zhou Shun was located here in the early Tang Dynasty, and it was changed to Shunyi County in the early Ming Dynasty. After the founding of New China, it belonged to Tongzhou District, Hebei Province, and was transferred to Beijing in March 1958. 1March, 1998, with the approval of the State Council, Shunyi was divided into districts from counties, which was called Shunyi District.
