The way of cultivation is the most important thing in the world, and it is also the most difficult thing in the world. Because of its greatness and difficulty, the ancients said it was a rare thing in the world. This is something that cannot be accomplished without a deep understanding of nature, a clear understanding of yin and yang, a long-lasting determination, and a step-by-step approach.
The scholars of later generations, regardless of the purpose of this matter, want to become Taoists if they have never learned Taoism; they want to become immortals if they have never learned Taoism. No wonder those who practice Taoism are like ox hair, and those who achieve Taoism are like lin horns.
I have been pursuing Taoism since I was a child. I have never met a decent person, and I do not know right from wrong. I have become a mess and almost suffered. Fortunately, I met my master, the old man from Gu Gu, and after a brief smell of the fragrance, I realized that I had made mistakes in the past, and that most of the Taoists in the world were also wrong. In order to express my master's intention and put forward his guideline for self-cultivation, it is summarized into nine points, which are called the Nine Essentials for Self-cultivation. The method proceeds from shallow to deep, from humble beginnings to ascending heights, and serves as a ladder for beginners. Regardless of whether you are studying Taoism or cultivating Taoism, if you follow these nine points and follow them step by step, you will eventually achieve deep learning and self-satisfaction, and you will be able to recognize the blind master and the enlightened master and distinguish the evil path and the right path. Even if you cannot do this rare thing in the world, you can still know that if you can do this rare thing in the world, you will not waste your time and your life in vain.

sigh! Life in this world is like a dream, and hundreds of years pass by in an instant. When impermanence comes, even if there are gold caves and silver mountains, they cannot buy life; filial sons and virtuous grandchildren cannot be separated from sorrow. If you don't take care of it as soon as possible, you will be in a hurry, and the king of hell will not show mercy. Once you lose your body, you will be ruined. Those who are aspiring to the Tao must quickly open this gate before they can have a thoroughfare. Otherwise, worldly connections will continue and you will dream of enlightenment. Although you have become a monk physically, your mind has never been a monk. Every move you make is nothing more than working hard on worldly affairs. Every step you take is always working on human relationships. Not only can you not become a Taoist, but you have no reason to learn the Tao, why should you become a monk?
Countless scholars from ancient to modern times have made this mistake many times. Therefore, those who learn the Tao are like ox hair, and those who master the Tao are like lin horns. "Wu Zhen" says: "How about heaps of gold like Dai Yue, what can be bought by impermanence?" "Liao Dao Song" says: "First let go of worldly things, and then study the truth carefully." This means that everything in the world is false, and life is the most important thing. Truth, if you want to know the truth, you must first abandon the falsehood. Why? Once you recognize that it is false, your heart will become a false servant. Every falsehood is false, and you are far away from the Tao. You are not a person who cherishes his life. If you don’t cherish your own life, you will hang on to nothing, and you will die of old age. What is the use of it?
In the past, Luzu was suddenly freed from all thoughts due to a dream, Mazu became enlightened the fastest because of his understanding of death, and it was Guo who first discovered the world and then cultivated the truth. So it comes true that Tao is given to others. Kuang's practice as a monk was originally based on investigating the world's affairs. If you are forced to become a monk without any investigation, it will be in name only but in reality. If you want to reach the sky but fall to the ground instead, and you will be defeated, won't you waste all your efforts?
I would like to learn from people, no matter whether they are at home or a monk, if they want to decide on important matters of immediate concern, they must try and explore the world beforehand. After trying it out, trying it out, until there is no taste left, I realize that all fate is empty and life is a big deal. From now on, I can eliminate all false things outside my body. Keep your feet on the ground, seek teachers and friends, be brave and diligent, forget your body for the sake of the Tao, naturally be sincere and uphold the heaven, the ancestors will secretly support you, and there should be a real person to guide you.
"Wu Zhen" says: "If you don't practice to accumulate negative virtues, there will be a group of demons that will hinder you." It can be seen that cultivating virtues is the most important task for Taoists. If you talk about Tao without virtue, it is heresy and heresy, and there are many differences. Therefore, the ancient saints must first understand the way; the ancient wise men must first accumulate virtue. There is no one who can be a saint without knowing the way, and there is no one who can be a virtuous person without accumulating virtue. However, if you want to be a saint, you must first be virtuous; if you want to achieve enlightenment, you must first accumulate virtue. Morality has dual uses, internal and external complement each other, and the studies of sages are achieved.
The Taoist does things for oneself; the virtuous does things for others. If you practice the Tao to the end, your virtues will be endless. From ancient times to the present, after immortals and Buddhas have attained enlightenment, they will still be like the light and dust, accumulating merits and deeds until three thousand deeds are completed and eight hundred deeds are completed before they receive the decree from heaven. Kuang Jin Dan Dao is tabooed by ghosts and gods. People who are not loyal and filial cannot know it, and people who are not great sages and virtuous people dare not teach it. That is to say, it is known through forceful transmission that ghosts and gods are not happy and will inevitably bring disasters secretly and prolong their lifespan. It is not only useless, but also harmful.
I have obtained the order of the Immortal to stay in the niche valley, and I have a great heart for the Duke. Whenever I meet someone with lofty ideals, I want to guide him. Occasionally there were glimpses of clues, but after Xu looked at them, he soon became complacent and unable to go deep, and eventually became slack and exhausted over time. His greed and worries are worse than those of ordinary people. Several people before and after are all like this. Alas! This kind of people must have ancestors with no virtue and no conduct themselves. Therefore, they are diligent at first and lazy at the end, and they have lost their way to the true sect, which is irreversible.
Because of my carelessness, I made mistakes and deceived others, and I also encountered evil obstacles many times. Fortunately, it didn't matter, and the real treasure was not stolen. In view of this, I became speechless and did not dare to reveal my true strength. I had to wait for someone with great strength to pour their money into his ear.
The world’s scholars have just entered the door and looked directly at the gods as the easiest thing to do, and then deceived all directions without knowing what to avoid. Never think about the blood and sweat of the ten directions; every drink and every peck is the hard work of all living beings. There are those who trap people with their words; there are those who use fake Taoist methods to gain wealth; there are those who use yellow and white tricks to deceive people; there are countless ways to do this. I will owe a lot of debt in the future and I don’t know how to digest it. The ancients said: "Two horns may be present or absent, and one tail may be determined thousands of times." Who must be of this generation? Those who are aspiring to the Tao must be virtuous and self-reliant, and should not act carelessly and delay their future.
What is virtue? This is the kind of person who cares for the elderly and the poor, cherishes the orphans and the widowed, gives medicine and leaves tea, builds bridges and repairs roads, helps those in danger and relieves the poor, values wealth over righteousness, and promotes convenience.
What is action? This is the person who works hard for himself and others, works diligently and does good deeds without expecting retribution, does not grudge against others, does not attack when he has made achievements, does not fear difficulties, and does what is right when he sees it.
Be able to accumulate virtue, be able to establish good deeds, the longer you get stronger, your virtue will be submissive to ghosts and gods, your character will surpass the vulgar, and when you see it, you will be determined to see it, and you will have hope for the great road. Otherwise, if you don't accumulate any virtue or practice any practice, you will only dream of becoming enlightened. If you meet an expert by chance, you will cover up your bad deeds and focus on your good deeds. You think you can deceive others, but you don't realize that others regard you as if you see their lungs and liver are in trouble. There is also a class of people who do not do their duty, commit all kinds of evil, go to the wine shop and spend the night in the countryside, talk about morality but their heart is immoral, harm others and benefit themselves, do all kinds of strange things, do not know how to regret themselves, complain that they have no luck and no luck, and slander the Alchemy Sutra is all lies. Word. The seeds of true hell should be of a different kind. If you seek them as human beings, you can't get them. How dare you hope for immortals.
Call! Virtue refers to one's own affairs in the human world; Tao refers to the matters taught by teachers to become immortals. If you want to cultivate the Tao without accumulating virtue, but you can't do it in human affairs, how can you achieve the Tao of Immortality? Why don't you think twice?
"Shuo Gua Chuan" says: "Exhausting the principles to exhaust one's nature leads to one's destiny." It can be seen that the study of exhausting one's nature to one's destiny all depends on the exhaustion of principles to determine right and wrong. If the principles are poor and thorough, then one's abilities will be perfect, one's life will be preserved, and one can go straight to the supreme and true place; if one's principles are unclear, one's life will be difficult to cultivate, one's nature will be difficult, and one will eventually regret the failure in old age.
Today’s scholars are confused about becoming a monk, confused about learning Taoism, and confused about practicing. Since they are confused in life, how can they be clear when they die? What's the matter with life? You're doing this recklessly! The way of the golden elixir encompasses the way of heaven and earth, the way of stealing creation. It is the most noble, the most divine, the most wonderful, and it is not easy to understand. Scholars do not think about their own lives, do not understand the meaning of the teachings of the ancestors, eat all day long, and have no intention. They dream of a few words and a half words to achieve enlightenment. They spend the day wandering around and sleeping peacefully at night, treating the Alchemy Sutra as useless. He said that he used Zi Shu as a trick to deceive others. Those who falsely claim to be wise will lead the wrong with falsehood; those who falsely hope to come true will lead the blind with blindness. Even if there are a few people with faith, they are just looking at the flowers and looking at the flowers. How can they put their minds deeply into the truth? The ancients also said, "If you return the paper to find the true meaning, there will be great Luo Immortals everywhere." This is especially for those who do not seek teachers, and it is useless to say that the Alchemy Sutra is useless. Later generations do not know the meaning of the ancients, so they often use this as evidence, and then ignore the scriptures without asking, which is a big mistake! Big mistake!
Fuxian’s true Dharma words should not be uttered in vain, and every word or half of it can contain wonderful meanings. I don’t know how much my wife’s heart has been spent to build a ladder for future generations and keep an eye on the sect. But if you slander and slander him, the crime is beyond words! The actions of the later masters and wise men are always within the scope of the ancients. In fact, they may not be higher than the ancients. It can be seen that if today's masters do not coax students, then the ancient immortals will not mislead future generations.
I advise people with lofty ideals to take the teachings of the ancients, study them carefully, and seek advice from teachers. People; do not listen too much to the sound of bangs and allow others to mislead you; as for scholars who are not familiar with writing, they must also distinguish the true meaning of common sayings. As the saying goes, there is a hidden truth in it, but some people have not thought deeply about it. Such as "no dignity", "no shape", "knowledge", "so comfortable", "confused", "just follow the rules", "play according to circumstances", "dig for gold in the sand", "make something out of nothing", "live and die" ”, “Have oneself and no one else”, “Don’t know whether to live or die”, “Don’t care about life”, “Only know that one has oneself and not know anyone else”, “It is better to stay in one house than to stay in three houses”, “Being courteous to others will result in gains”, “Only knowing that one has oneself” One, I don't know the other." These words reveal the secrets of the world. Why not pick out one or two, make a head start, and think about it. Even though the principles are unclear, but the knowledge gradually opens up and is close to the Tao, it is not a waste of time. This kind of learning of poor principles can be done by everyone, regardless of whether they are wise or foolish. If you are successful and have no shortage of effort, you will gain enlightenment over time. But those who have realized it have their own private opinions and should not act rashly. If you encounter an enlightened master, you must investigate the matter from beginning to end, investigate the innocence, have true knowledge and insight, and be able to handle things with ease, so as not to make any mistakes. If you know the front but not the back, you know the back but you don’t know the front, you know the yin but don’t know the yang, you know the yang but don’t know the yin, you know the body but don’t know the use, you know the use but don’t know the body, or you know the action but don’t know the inaction, or you know the inaction but don’t know the action, or you know the essence. Those who are closed but don’t know how medicine works, or know how medicine works but don’t know how old it is, or know how to form pills but don’t know how to take them, or know how to form a fetus but don’t know how to get rid of it, or know how to cook martial arts but don’t know martial arts, or know how to practice martial arts but don’t know how to cook them. Maybe you know the Yang Fire but don't know the Yin Talisman, or you know how to advance the fire but don't know how to stop it, or you know how to warm and nourish the fire but don't know how to add it. A slight difference, a thousand miles of missing, may not come true. Not only this, but Yin and Yang have inside and outside, and the five elements have true and false. There are two periods of life and time, one day after another, there are true and false, there is false among true, there is true among false, there is true among true, there is false among false. If these mechanisms are not thoroughly studied, it means that they cannot be implemented; if they are not clearly distinguished, it means that they cannot be implemented. Therefore, Lu Zu tried to return the elixir three times but failed, and then obtained Cui Gong's "Medicine Mirror" to complete the work. Ziqing was troubled by wind and thunder in the middle of the night, so he practiced repeatedly and the problem was solved. Just like Er Weng, the leader among the immortals, some of them are unknown, but there is still no danger, but what about others? Scholars should think twice.
The ancient fairy cloud: "If there is no teacher to point out and know, the gods in the sky will have no place to live." And "Wuzhen" says: "Rao Jun is smarter than Yan Min. If you don't meet the true teacher, you can't guess." It's true. The knowledge of life and life must be passed down by a teacher, and it cannot be known by arbitrarily guessing and privately studying it.
In the past, Daoguang suddenly realized Yuantong and knew that he was not going up. Later, he met the apricot forest and became the great road; After more than ten years of hard work in Songshan, I gained nothing. Later, thanks to the guidance of the two immortals Zheng and Lu, I learned about important things. Although there are little skills in the world, one can only know them through the teachings of a master. How can one learn about life's important matters without a master?
The way to build one's life is to steal yin and yang, seize good fortune, reincarnate and kill, twist the vitality, and is innate but not contrary to nature. It cannot be predicted by ghosts and gods, and cannot be occupied by turtles and turtles. Those who find it will become saints. Reaching the throne and reaching the other shore is the most important thing in the world and the most difficult thing in the world. How could you know it if you were not a holy master and whispered it? There are three thousand six hundred side sects and seventy-two levels of alchemy. Evil harms good and false confuses true. It is very difficult to distinguish who is the blind master and who is the enlightened master.
However, it is easy to distinguish. Generally speaking, a great person is born, is pretentious, has a unique tune, is not promiscuous, does not flatter the world, does not belong to the same party, does not want fame, does not rely on talent, does not seek profit, does not deceive others, and is not eccentric. Words are all beneficial to the way of the world. Every line and line are of great benefit to the holy religion. There is no greed, anger, ignorance, and love. The intention, necessity, solidity, and self are fully understood. The moral character is pure and high, beyond the reach of others. Being free and open-minded is beyond everyone's reach. Occasionally, people with lofty ideals are quoted, and they have to go through many hardships to test whether they are true or false. Only if they are white jade and flawless can they be able to give clues; if they are not human beings, they will never dare to reveal the secrets of heaven. This is why he is a wise master.
If a blind teacher makes something out of nothing, and makes something out of nothing, he will not think about his own mistakes, and will teach others the wrong way. Some refer to men and women as yin and yang, some use millet as millet beads, some use furnace fire as the external elixir, some use refining the heart and kidneys as the inner elixir, some use thinking as a way to concentrate the mind, or some practice Ziwu is used to draw out the wind, some turn the wheel into the Zhoutian, some regard stubborn emptiness as inaction, some use luck as doing something, some use oblivion as practicing tranquility, or some practice sleep as retreating from Yin. Some people take sulfur to promote yang, or some people avoid grains to prolong life, and so on, they are countless. Such people have no words of merit and no integrity. They wear bare clothes but have money bags around their waists. They wear hairpins and crowns but care about snakes and scorpions. They pay attention to wealth when they see it. They forget the way when they encounter hardship. They drink wine and eat meat. They don’t care about the blood and sweat of the world. They lose their reputation. Teach, those who know that they will perish for a thousand eons. When walking, they only work hard on money. Wherever they move, they put all their thoughts on food and clothing. With one bow of the head, they are accepted as disciples. They have tea and meals. Even if they preach, they use the door of the sages. But they deceive themselves and the world, steal the teachings of immortals and Buddhas, and pretend to be monsters. They only know that they are full and warm, and they don't care about the life or death of others. If a scholar listens to his words but does not observe his actions, he will not fail to fall into the net and harm his life.
Kang Yi was confused by what he said, and he believed falsehood to be true, and he was stubborn and incomprehensible. Even though there was a high-level holy master who wanted to help him, he had no way to get in.
There are many Taoists in the world who have suffered this kind of disaster. Huang and his ilk travel east and west, who doesn’t have many public cases? Who doesn’t have a few words to say? If you only use the three flavors of your mouth to judge people, then everyone will be a Buddha and everyone will be an immortal.
How many people can become enlightened among the thousands of people who study Taoism? Generally speaking, saints and sages are not common and immortals and Buddhas are not common. Because they are not common and rare, they are considered to be experts. A superior person is beyond his kind and outstanding. How can he be called a superior person by speaking Samadhi?
Back then, I was taught a secret touchstone by my master, who was good at recognizing the status of people. If you meet a practicing person and test him with wine, sex, wealth, and energy, but he cannot move, he must be of extraordinary quality. If you even question him with "Wuzhen" and "Shentong", and he answers casually, he is a wise master. I have tried and tested many times, and I am willing to use this method to win the hearts of all my colleagues.
"Qinyuan Chun" says: "For the Seven Return Pills, people must first practice themselves and wait for the time." "Wuzhen Chapter" says: "If you want to cultivate the nine turns, you must first practice yourself and maintain your mind. "In terms of the way of cultivation, it is easiest to return the elixir, but it is difficult to refine oneself. If you want to return the elixir without cultivating yourself, it is completely unreasonable.
Those who return elixirs to their husbands are like the beams and pillars of a house; those who refine themselves are like the foundation of a house. If the foundation is not built, the beams and pillars will have nowhere to build; if the self is not refined, the elixir of return cannot be condensed. When a scholar learns the master's instructions, he must train himself to become more proficient. When facing the furnace, he will be able to find sources at both ends, and he will be at ease with his skills. Lead and mercury will be congenial, and his temperament will be in harmony. There will be no danger of gaining and losing again. Especially since human beings are born, the yang pole generates yin. They are lost at birth and used for things the day after tomorrow. The things that were old at that time are all not mine. In addition, all kinds of worries have touched their hearts, everything has worked for them, their essence has leaked, they have been dizzy, and their qi has failed. This is the illusory body. Like a broken pot and a rotten urn. The pot is broken and the urn is rotten, but it cannot hold water; a person's body is decayed, but he still cannot get elixirs. It is the same principle. Therefore, although it is an acquired fake, it is not the material of the returning elixir, but the elixir is not yet returned, but it is still borrowed to rely on for success, and it must not be damaged.
The ancients said: "If there is no such dream, how can we do big things? If we still need to do big things, why use this dream?" Another saying: "We are not afraid that there will be no true seed in the past, but we are afraid that we will not be blessed the day after tomorrow." If the acquired skills are sufficient, the innate can be restored, and if the innate is restored, the acquired can be transformed. How can we underestimate the power of cultivating oneself and building the foundation!
What is self-refinement? To be less greedy and loveless is to refine oneself; to strengthen one's Yin essence is to refine oneself; to defeat the sleeping devil is to refine oneself; to suffer oneself and benefit others is to refine oneself; to work hard in the world is to refine oneself; to work hard with one's heart is to abandon worldly things. , to refine oneself; to be brave and diligent, to take the Tao as one's responsibility, to refine oneself; to be down-to-earth, to exert one's strength step by step, to refine oneself; to be rich and noble cannot be lascivious, to be poor and lowly cannot be moved, to be mighty and unyielding, to refine oneself; to be cherished by brown jade, to be as wise as a fool, Great skill is as clumsy as it is to refine oneself. Most of the merits of self-cultivation are always the result of not having self. Laozi said: "The reason why I have a serious illness is that I have a body, and I have no body. What trouble do I have?" When you refine yourself to the point where you have no self, the body will exist outside the body. The day after tomorrow will be stable, and the foundation will be solid. The heavenly sun returns and merges into one. "The weather comes first, and the weather comes later. Those who get it are always like being drunk." The elixir is ready within an hour. If I just try to improve myself and perform a temporary success, then the day after tomorrow will not be solid. Even though the innate world is close at hand, it is not allowed to me. When the lead comes, the mercury will not welcome it; when the obstacles come, it will not be welcomed; when the other comes, I will not wait. Alas! When building the foundation, you must use a picket, and when refining yourself, you must use real lead. How easy it is to refine oneself and build a foundation!
The way of cultivation is the way of the golden elixir; the way of the golden elixir is the way of creation; the way of creation is the way of yin and yang.
"Yi" says: "One yin and one yang are called Tao." It also says: "The sky and the earth are dense, all things are mellow, men and women form essence, and all things are transformed and born." It is the only yin that does not give birth, and the only yang. Only when the yin and yang are in harmony can we have children. The way of golden elixir only adopts the innate and pure Qi. The innate Qi has no form or image. It cannot be seen, heard, or fought. It comes from nothingness. The sage uses reality to form the void, and uses existence to form the non-existent. What is real and exists is the true yin and true yang; what is empty and non-existent is the Qi of the Erba Chuxian. The Qi of Chuxian is the innate Qi. This Qi is not the interaction of Yin and Yang and cannot have any image. If you want to cultivate the golden elixir path, there is no other way than to abandon the yin and yang.
However, yin and yang are not the same. If you accept falsehood as true, it will be a waste of effort, no benefit or loss, and must be distinguished. The yin and yang of men and women are the yin and yang of the world; the yin and yang of the heart and kidneys are the yin and yang of the phantom body; the yin and yang of the sun and the moon are the yin and yang of heaven and earth; the winter solstice and summer solstice are the yin and yang of a year; the yin and yang of a month are the yin and yang of New Year's Day. The time of Zi and Wu are the yin and yang of one day; the two hours and four hours are the yin and yang of one hour. All of these are not the yin and yang of the golden elixir. The yin and yang of Jindan are based on my family as yin and his family as yang; I am separation and he is kan; a yin in li is true yin, and a yang in kan is true yang. To fill in the gaps is to use the true yin to seek the true yang, and to use the true yang to help the true yin. Moreover, Yin and Yang are different from the inside and outside: the internal Yin and Yang, the forward movement of Yin and Yang, are things after birth, the day after birth, and the human way; the outer Yin and Yang, the negative Yin and Yang, are the things before birth, are innate, and are the way of immortality. There is no equal appearance of male and female inside and outside Yin and Yang. They are neither color nor emptiness, that is, color is emptiness; they are neither existence nor non-existence, that is, existence or nothingness. If the color is empty and non-existent, it is not the real trace of true yin and true yang.
We know that yin and yang need to be balanced and equal, neither more nor less, impartial and impartial, neither hasty nor slow, neither presence nor absence, neither abandonment nor separation, neither impatience nor cowardice, or the yang moves and the yin follows, or Yin senses and Yang responds, or uses yang in yin, or uses yin in yang, or uses yin to complete yang, or uses yang to control yin, or uses yin and yang from the inside to help the outside, or uses yin and yang from outside to help the inside, and the inside and outside are combined Tao, the golden elixir is formed from nothingness, if you take it and obey it, you will live forever. "Shen Tong" says: "It is easy to perform power if the same kind is the same, but it is difficult to be clever if it is not the same kind." "Wuzhen" says: "The internal medicine is also the same as the external medicine, and the internal medicine must also be connected to the external medicine. Dantou and Hehe are the same, and they have two general functions of warming and nourishing. Sanfeng said: "In the world, men and women have yin and yang, and they have children and grandchildren. They are ordinary people and immortals." The way to reconcile yin and yang is all here.
The ancient scriptures say: "The sage teaches medicine but not fire, and few people know the temperature." It is easy to know the medicine, but the temperature is the most difficult. Although it is difficult to find the medicine, if you encounter a wise master who can point it out, the true knowledge and insight will be available now without waiting for him to ask for it, so it is easy to know. As for the heat, there is cooking and martial arts, there is starting and resting, there is inside and outside, there is sequence, there is time, there is Yao Baht, there is haste and slowness, there is stop, there is heat for each step, and there is heat for each step. The temperature of the fire is ever-changing, so only by adjusting it at any time can you be sure. If you miss it by a hair, you will lose a thousand miles. So it’s the hardest.
What is fire? The magical skill of forging; what is the waiting? The time of application is also. The time to use it is when the Hongmeng is about to judge and yin and yang are not separated; forging magical skills is within the coexistence of heaven and man, and the establishment of existence and non-existence. And there is external heat and internal heat. The external fire temperature gathers the five elements and harmonizes the four images; the internal fire temperature bathes and warms the body to prevent danger. Although the internal and external medicines are the same, the application of heat is very different. How can one know it without meeting a true master?
