When is the hottest in dog days?

From late July to early August. Dog days refer to the three solar terms in the summer of the lunar calendar, namely, the beginning, the middle and the end. The initial stage generally begins in mid-July, the intermediate stage lasts from the end of July to the beginning of August, and the final stage ends in mid-August. Among the three solar terms, the middle part is considered to be the hottest period, usually from the end of July to the beginning of August. During this period, the temperature is high and the weather is hot, which is the hottest time in summer. In southern China, the temperature may reach the highest point in midsummer, even exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
