The legend of Qixingyan
It is said that Hehua, a farm girl who cultivated lotus and picked lotus, gave her young life to save the common people's seedlings. Her husband Shi Xing was devastated. Many years later, when his son grew up, Shi Xing no longer had any worries and became a monk in Shidong Ancient Temple. The days passed day by day, and Monk Shi was already in his sixties.
One day, he dreamed that the Buddha said: Hehua's deeds moved the Jade Emperor, and he ascended to heaven and was named the "Hehua Fairy". Years of longing for Hehua was like a volcano erupting. Monk Shi ran desperately to the lake and called to the sky for Hehua. He kept shouting until his voice was hoarse and his throat cracked. He was exhausted. Finally, he fell by the lake, but still raised his face to the sky. , calling his wife's name day and night, until his breath faded and his life ended.
Thousands of years passed, and Monk Shi’s body turned into a huge reclining Buddha lying by the lake. Hehua, who has been included in the immortal class, is not indifferent, but due to the laws of heaven, she cannot go down to earth. When she saw Shi Xing dying of grief for her, she felt extremely sad, so she knelt down and begged Taibai Jinxing to save Shi Xing.
Taibai Jinxing was touched by the affection between Hehua and his wife, and interceded for Hehua in front of the Jade Emperor. With Taibai Jinxing's strong guarantee, the Jade Emperor finally allowed Hehua to go out of the Nantian Gate in mid-September every year to throw the golden elixir from the sky into Shixing's mouth.
From then on, when the sun is about to set in mid-September every year, you can clearly see a red, translucent and round golden elixir at the Buddhist viewing platform in Fairy Lake or by taking a cruise at a specific location. It fell from the sky and slowly fell into the open mouth of the reclining Buddha. This is the celestial wonder that can be seen only a few days a year and only half an hour a day in Zhaoqing Xinghu Lake - the Reclining Buddha with Pills.
