Gho file naming rules

Naming rules for volume partition files using ghost-split parameters. .

Quote:

Before the DVD burner came out, netizens used the parameter GHOST -split=××× to clone for the convenience of burning CDs. I did the same thing. Two years ago, Acer's portable volume cloning file was made of Ghost. At that time, we used a mirror made of GHOST -split=650, and XP after the mirror was finished. ghoxp0000 1。 Gh。 Divide into three CDs. I've been using it. It's okay.

A few days ago, because it was more troublesome to get three CDs, I had a DVD burner at hand, so I wanted to burn three files on a DVD. At that time, for convenience, I brought another portable clone file ASUS.gho with me. Prepare to burn together on a DVD, a total of five files.

ghost83.exe

Asus. GHO

XP.gho

xp00000 1.ghs

xp000002.ghs

At that time, for the sake of clarity, the last three documents were renamed as follows:

Acerxp.gho

acerxp00000 1.ghs

acerxp000002.ghs

I thought it would be okay.

I never thought there would be a big problem when I finally used it. Ghost83.exe can't find the files acerxp00000 1.ghs and acerxp000002.ghs. Why can't I find the files on the CD?

It turns out that when we use GHOST, we all use DOS environment, and DOS only supports file name 8.3 format.

After many twists and turns, I consulted some materials and did it myself, only to know that the naming rules of ghost volumes are roughly like this. When the GHOST volume is divided, some characters will be automatically completed or truncated to ensure the format of the name 8.3.

For example, when we clone by volume, it is named: 1.gho, followed by the second file name: 100000 1.ghs, and the third volume is 10000002.ghs.

When we clone by volume, it is named: 12.gho, followed by the second file name: 1200000 1.ghs, and the third volume is/kloc-0 12000002.ghs

When we named the clone: 123.gho, the second file name was: 1230000 1.ghs, and the third volume was:/kloc-0 12300002.ghs

When we named the clone: 1234.gho, the second file name was: 1234000 1.ghs, and the third volume was:/kloc-0 12340002.ghs

When we named the clone: 12345.gho, the second file name was: 1234500 1.ghs, and the third volume was:/kloc-0 12345002.ghs

When we named the clone: 123456.gho, the second file name was: 1234500 1.ghs, and the third volume was:/kloc-0 12345002.ghs

When we named the clone: 1234567.gho, the second file name was: 1234500 1.ghs, and the third volume was:/kloc-0 12345002.ghs

When the file name of our clone is: 12345678.gho, the second file name is: 1234500 1.ghs, and the third volume is: 12345002.ghsQUOTE: After we know these rules, we can classify the files that have been divided.

Acerxp.gho

acerx00 1.ghs

acerx002.ghs

In addition, of course, you can also use tools to reassemble files that have been divided into volumes, such as GhostExplorer. . . .
