Tiyueyanglou

Bai Juyi

Yueyang city has been flooded for a long time.

Alone on the dangerous building, by the diaphragm.

When the spring shore is green, it is even more like a dream.

Xibohong is near Chang 'an.

Why did the ape climb up and cry?

It is also difficult for geese to fly over the lake.

This place is just a painting obstacle.

Huatang Zhang and distinguished guests have a look.

Appreciation of Bai Juyi's Poems

This is a poem written by Bai Juyi in the spring of the 14th year (8 19) when he was a secretariat from Jiangzhou to Zhongzhou and passed through Yueyang. After several relegations, the poet couldn't bear to wander, so in his landscape poems describing lakes and mountains, he also showed his sadness and nostalgia for the capital.

Three of the first four sentences in this poem describe the magnificence of Dongting Lake.

The word "long" in the first sentence of The Mayor of Yueyang is in the water is full of images. The poet "The sea of new Yuefu": "The sea is long and endless." Therefore, the word "endless" gives people a feeling of boundless water potential. Three or four sentences "It is more like a dream when the spring shore is green, and it is close to Chang 'an when the waves are red at night", which describes the vastness of Dongting Lake. Yun Mengze is one of the Seven Heroes of Ancient Chu, and Fiona Fang is 8900 Li. The rising water in Dongting Lake in spring is not only far away from the place where sunset dreams and sunset return to water, but also away from Chang 'an. Such exaggeration of the magnificent evening scenery of Dongting Lake gives readers a concrete and perceptual understanding of the grandeur of Dongting Lake. At the same time, this sentence also uses the allusion of Jin Mingdi (Si Mashao) that "the sun is far away and Chang 'an is near". When the poet saw the setting sun, he couldn't help thinking of Chang 'an, thinking that he was going to Yuezhou from Jiangzhou, which was much closer to Chang 'an. Therefore, the superficial meaning of this poem is to describe the magnificence of Dongting's later scenery with exaggerated techniques, but the deep meaning is the poet's attachment to the capital.

In the five or six sentences, "Why is it difficult for an ape to climb and crow, but it is also difficult for a wild goose to fly across the lake", expressing the feeling of the end of the world with "ape crow" and "wild goose crossing" is in the same strain as "near Chang 'an" above. Try to think that the water is wide and long, and the geese can't fly. They often have to fall into the water to rest. How can people easily cross? At this time, we look at the second sentence of the poem in turn, "going to the dangerous building alone and relying on the winding path." The word "independence" is not only a true writing, but also a false writing in which he has been relegated to the outside world all the year round, far away from the capital and experienced the feeling of loneliness. Therefore, when he saw the sunset, he naturally thought of Chang 'an. When he heard apes singing and saw geese flying, he felt the hardships of the world. These words are all about looking at the scenery, looking back and forth, which not only shows the magnificence of Dongting, but also expresses the pain of the poet wandering around the world and missing the capital.

The last two sentences of the poem say that the Dongting is magnificent, and it can be painted as a painting barrier and hung in a luxurious hall for those noble people to enjoy, which may give them a little idea of the hardships of apes singing and geese flying and refugees expelling guests. Thus implicitly expressed the poet's wandering feeling and resentment against the feelings of your people.
