The legend of "Teal Duck"

My hometown is a small mountain village at the foot of Baoding Mountain in Dazu County, which is known as the "Hometown of Stone Carvings". It is called Teal Village, also called Teal Dang. There is a beautiful legend about my hometown.

Legend has it that this place was originally a wasteland, overgrown with weeds and uninhabited. In the early Qing Dynasty, when Huguang was filling up Sichuan, a group of Pu family ancestors came here to open up wasteland and expand the land. Only then did the first wisp of cooking smoke rise here. The ancestors of the Pu family who were the first to arrive here settled down in the area from Beiyakou at the northern foot of Hufeng Mountain in the west to Shiziqiao in the east, forming a narrow strip of land about 9 miles long from east to west, about 2 miles wide from north to south, and covering an area of about 20 square kilometers. Several years later, due to the government's policy of "planting land for business and light taxation", immigrants from other places continued to pour in. Soon, an ancestor of the Yang family also came here. Since the Pu Yang family was related before they entered Sichuan, the ancestors of the Pu family gave the current section from Teal Dang to Lion Bridge to the ancestors of the Yang family. From then on, the Puyang family settled here for generations and worked together to build their beautiful home.

Shortly after arriving here in Sichuan, the ancestor of the Yang family died of overwork. The descendants of the Yang family asked Mr. Yin and Yang to choose the place for burial at the current teal. Mr. Yin and Yang repeatedly asked the Yang family to tell the people who dug the Yin wells: Fish until the fish climbs the tree and the man with the iron hat comes. It was the market day and there were many people watching. At noon, a fisherman hung a fish cage on a tree to watch the fun. A man returning from the market bought an iron pot and put it on his head to watch the fun. At this time, the well was just being dug. A helper who was digging the well saw a small protruding and uneven stone in the well, so he shoveled it flat with a catalpa. Suddenly he heard a hollow sound and thought it was strange, so he shoveled it again with a catalpa. After a while, the protruding part of the stone was shoveled away, and a clear spring flowed out. Then a teal fluttered out of the pit, circled three times above people's heads, and then flew westward. Just when people were shocked, another golden carp jumped out of the pit. It kept opening its mouth, jumped around the edge of the pit a few times, and then died. The stunned people stopped working and immediately told the owner about the incident. The Yang family burst into tears, and Mr. Yin and Yang also complained, and everything flew away. ?

Later, the Yang family hastily buried the Yang ancestors. After something like this happened, people thought that the Yang family would decline from now on. However, the hard-working descendants of the Yang family became prosperous day by day and became the leading wealthy family in the local area. Since then, the place where teal ducks once flew out of the rocks has become a famous Feng Shui treasure place. People call it "Teal Duck Dang" and the place where the Yang family lives is called "Teal Duck Village".
