The Origin of Liubao Place Names in the Model Militia Class of Liubao "Second Sister"
Before the establishment of New China, Liubao was called Liubaodui and Liubaotou. There is a legend among local people: once upon a time, there was a champion who went south to work. Because of the strange troubles on the Grand Canal, he changed his way to the east. When he arrived here in a sudden storm, he put a sword on the shore and tied the boat. After the rain, he left the sword on the shore, hence the name Liubao.
Liubao, whose real name is Liubao, used to be just a huge buttress in the water. It is said that a champion Wu went to Zhenjiang to take up his post, and when he crossed the canal, he was caught in rough waves and almost sank. He diverted to the inland river, and it was calm when he left the treasure crib. The champion Lang looked up and saw the flowers and birds singing, the water, fertilizer and grass were beautiful, and he was very happy, so he left a royal sword around his waist to avoid evil. From then on, there was the name "Liubao". Until the Anti-Japanese War, the leaders of the local party organizations saw Liubao everywhere, just like a green fortress, guarding their hometown, so they changed their names to "Liubao". Liubao Town was named after The Story of Liubao. The name of a literary work later became a permanent place name, which is rare in contemporary China. The production base of Yangzhou Top Electric Technology Co., Ltd. is located in Liubao Town, Yangzhou City.
liubao town is full of people. In the 16th year of the Republic of China, the famous modern Buddhist master Yan Pei became a monk in Futian Temple, Liubao Town. Yan Pei has preached, lectured and written many books at home and abroad, and settled in Singapore in 1963. Yan Pei was particularly enthusiastic about social welfare. In 1986 and 1992, he was awarded the Medal of Public Service and the Star of Public Service by former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew twice. In May 1995, he visited China with a Singaporean Buddhist delegation and was warmly received by Mr. Zhao Puchu, then president of the Chinese Buddhist Association.
from the anti-Japanese war to the liberation war, 154 martyrs in Liubao town were awarded the title of "revolutionary martyrs". Nowadays, when you walk into Liubao, you can see that all bridges, large and small, are crowned with the names of martyrs. In October 1992, when Baoying County commemorated the 123th anniversary of the founding of the county, when Hu Shiyan, the author of The Story of Liubao, and Tao Yuling, the actor of the second sister in the film, returned to Liubao, Hu Shiyan introduced the creation process of The Story of Liubao and explained a little-known story to us. He said: "I wrote" The Story of Liubao "out of a true story. In the winter of 1943, the 7th Regiment of 3rd Brigade, 1st Division of the New Fourth Army launched an anti-Japanese guerrilla war in Baoying. At that time, 19-year-old vice squad leader Xu Jincheng reported to me:' Chief, I really want to desert.' Why?' I am very surprised. He said:' I fell in love with the landlord's girl, Second Sister, and she loves me very much. I don't want to go with the army. I want to stay as a militia.' I said,' soldiers can't fall in love with ordinary people. Have you agreed?' No, I'm afraid I'll eat a peanut one day and sacrifice it, which will make her wait for nothing.' In September 1945, this chivalrous and soft-hearted little soldier died in the battle of Dingshushan. Going south in 1949, his comrades-in-arms deliberately bypassed Liubatou to tell the old landlord that the girl was married. Every time I think about it, I can't be calm. I think our soldiers not only sacrificed their lives, but also their love for the liberation of the people. Determined to express it in the form of literature and art, I created the novel The Story of Liubao. The old man Hu Shiyan also said, "Liubao used to be called Liubao Stack and Liubao Head. There is a legend among local people: once upon a time, there was a champion who went south to work. Because of the strange troubles on the Grand Canal, he changed his way to the east. When he came here in a sudden storm, he put a sword on the shore and tied the boat. After the rain, he set sail and left the sword on the shore, hence his name. When our regiment was stationed here in 1943, it was named Liubatou, and there were big willows along the river. At that time, I was the editor-in-chief of the "Battle Newspaper", and Xu Jincheng, the deputy monitor, was the communication leader of the first battalion and the second company. When I write a novel, I think the style and title of this story should be both war and lyrical. Liu was changed to Liu, and the word Liu was sentimental, but the word Ba was not ambiguous, so it was rewritten as Liubao. Later, the novel "The Story of Liubao" was made into a film in 1956. The director Wang Ping asked me if Liubao really had a place. I said it was the Liubatou of Baoying, so the film crew came here to shoot the location for two months. "
