New rules for Wuxi cemetery service charges are released

Yesterday, we learned from the Wuxi Price Bureau that the "Wuxi City's Interim Measures for the Management of For-profit Cemetery Service Charges" were released. At this point, basic service charging items such as tomb construction fees, burial fees, tomb protection fees, ashes storage fees, and engraving fees will be regulated.

The Wuxi Price Bureau has formulated benchmark standards, fluctuation ranges or maximum charging standards for tomb construction fees and other charging items. The "Measures" stipulate that for tombs with an area of less than 0.7 square meters for a single cave and for double caves with an area of less than 1 square meter, the municipal price bureau will set benchmark standards for the construction fees. The traditional tomb costs 4,300 yuan for a single cave and 5,000 yuan for a double cave, and can fluctuate by 20% depending on the location and orientation, including the cost of the foundation (granite floor), tomb passage, stone tablets, cloud columns, stone lions, greening, and tomb certificates. Depending on the materials used and the environment, the base price of craft tombs may increase by no more than 150% on the traditional tomb, including greening and the cost of the tomb certificate. Tombs exceeding 1 square meter must be reviewed and approved by the civil affairs department. The price department at the same level will set the standard for tomb construction fees and report them to the Municipal Price Bureau for filing. The maximum cost for building a lawn burial grave is RMB 2,500 for a single grave and RMB 3,000 for a double grave. The maximum cost for building a tree burial tomb is 2,000 yuan for a single cave and 2,500 yuan for a double cave. The burial fee is generally 80 yuan per hole, and the customary burial fee for the Hui people is 800 yuan per hole. The tomb protection fee is charged at 10 yuan per square meter per year (less than 1 square meter is calculated as 1 square meter), including management fees and greening fees. The engraving fee is 3 yuan per word regardless of size. The difference between the purchase and sale of supporting small commodities shall not exceed 35%. Ashes storage fees are assessed separately according to different types.

The "Measures" also stipulate that each cemetery service unit should publicize the charging items and standards, and apply for a "Charging License" from the price department before charging. The new regulations will be implemented from January 1
