Why did Yangpu Hongji stop?
The first is modeling: many people think that the modeling of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom is familiar. This is the lower house of Jing 'an Temple, which is an affiliated temple. When Jing 'an Temple was built, 500,000 pieces of gold foil were used, but the newly built Taiping Honghu can only be more gorgeous, and it is planned to use 3 million pieces of gold foil. In addition, the shapes of the two are also very similar, so people jokingly call this the "secondary development and height" of Jing' an Temple Tower.
Secondly, some people think that most temples are mainly made of wood, but Taiping Temple is a reinforced concrete structure, with a large base and five small towers on top, which looks like a "big hat", top-heavy and uncoordinated. Therefore, it is neither fish nor fowl to be vomited by residents. I don't know. I thought it was a business building or a residential building.
Another point is related to feng shui. Many people are afraid to live around the temple, not to mention that Taiping Temple is located within the inner ring of Yangpu District, and it is also a prime location on the East Bund, with many surrounding houses. Therefore, many residents think that it is against common sense to build a giant stupa next to the community, which is too close to the residential building, affecting lighting and causing sound, light and smoke pollution.
Architectural history
Taiping Hongji has the word "Taiping" in its name, but it is not "Taiping" in the construction process. First of all, it has been destroyed and rebuilt countless times in history. Even in the last century, it was rented as a factory building, leaving only one hall.
It was not until 20 19 that it was renamed as "Taiping Honghu" and was recognized as the lower house of Jing' an Temple. Originally planned to be completed in ten years, that is, 20 19 years, there is no news now.
The reconstruction project of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Temple includes the Buddhist relic underground palace, Mahayana Hall, Guanyin Hall, Five Hundred Arhats Hall, Hades Hall and Pharmacist Hall.
In addition, the top of the stupa also includes a library, a monk's residence, a Buddhist college and so on. There is also an underground parking lot, which is simply a Buddhist building complex. Once completed, it will not only become the tallest temple in China, but even break the world record.
