The origin of the place name "Fort New Bridge" in Hangzhou?

The name of the Fort New Bridge station was changed in April 2010. It was originally called Bus Factory Station.

As the name suggests, there was a fort on this mountain during the Republic of China. The mountain behind the Zhejiang University Science and Technology Park was also called Fortress Mountain. There are too many fort mountains across the country, so now they have all been renamed. Old Hangzhou people still remember this fort mountain. . But there is also a fort apartment on the roadside of Tianmu Mountain, which also got its name.

Fortress Mountain should be the area around Qinting Mountain and Beauty Mountain. Historical data records that during the Republic of China, the line between Laohe Mountain-Paotai Mountain-Beigaofeng was used as the boundary between Hangzhou City and Hang County. Fortress Mountain should be between Laohe Mountain and North Peak. These two hills are still there.

As for Xinqiao, this name is even more common. In ancient times, a newly built bridge was called Xinqiao. It is estimated that in the past, the water system in the Gudang Bay area was developed. If a bridge was built, the surrounding area would be called a new bridge. This is a guess without a source. There are more new bridges in Hangzhou named after them.
