How did Du come into being?
Typhoon "Du Surui" gradually developed from a typhoon embryo 98W east of the Philippines. The appearance of typhoon embryo is due to the high water temperature in the Pacific Ocean and the influence of airflow circulation, which gradually forms a powerful convective cloud cluster. After several days of development, this typhoon embryo gradually strengthened into the fifth typhoon Du.
Specifically, when warm seawater encounters low wind shear conditions, the initial disturbance will stimulate the air to move upward. The water vapor released by seawater evaporation provides a rich source of water vapor, which makes the clouds grow and rotate continuously. Over time, Du has become a powerful typhoon, bringing storms and huge waves.
The structure of typhoon is as follows:
1, typhoon eye area
The typhoon eye area has an average diameter of 40 kilometers, the wind is very small, and the weather is fine, which is very strange. The sailors there humorously called typhoon eye "Xanadu" of typhoon.
2. Cloud wall area
The cloud wall area around the typhoon eye is dozens of kilometers wide and tens of kilometers high, which is also called the eye wall. The cloud wall is towering here, the wind is howling, the rain is pouring, the sea is churning, and the weather is the worst.
3. Spiral rain belt area
Outside the cloud wall is a spiral rain belt. There are several rain (clouds) bands that gather spirally around the eye wall. The bandwidth of rain is tens to hundreds of kilometers, and it is several meters long in Qian Qian. There will be showers and windy weather where the rain belt passes.
