Information about Su Dongpo and Huizhou
Su Dongpo and Huizhou West Lake
Huizhou West Lake, formerly known as Hufeng Lake. Because it is rich in "the benefits of reed, lotus root and cattail fish, and the lake can irrigate hundreds of hectares of fields and bring a bumper harvest to local residents, it is called Hufeng Lake. As for the West Lake, it was named after Su Dongpo from the south.
In the Northern Song Dynasty (1094), Zhang Tian was appointed as prime minister, and Wang Anshi's new law was implemented again. Su Shi, who opposed the new law, was demoted to Huizhou on the charge of "ridiculing the first time". On October 2 this year, he came to the south as an agreement of Ningyuan Army. Originally, he thought Huizhou in eastern Guangdong was a wild place, but when he got off the bus, he saw the beautiful scenery and could not help but exclaim loudly that "the seamounts are green and healthy"! So I eliminated my political frustration and said "I don't want to be a Lingnan person". I lived there for three years and wrote over 190 poems and dozens of essays. Later, because he wrote a poem, "Mr. Chun sleeps beautifully, and the Taoist taps the five-watch clock", it reached Zhang Tian's ear. Zhang thought his relegated life was too leisurely, so he relegated him to Hainan County.
Su Dongpo lived in Huizhou for three years, and the so-called "Dongpo lived in Huizhou and was brave as a righteous man". He saw that Huizhou defenders had no fixed barracks and lived in the city, disturbing the people. He suggested building 300 barracks. He is very enthusiastic about the construction of West Lake: in order to build "Su Causeway" and "Liu Ruting", he even donated his own rhinoceros belt; He also donated money and materials from ouchi, helped Taoist Deng Shouan to build the East New Bridge, and helped monk Xigu to build the West New Bridge and levee. What is even more rare is that he personally interacts with construction workers, checks the construction progress and supervises the construction cost. So on the day when the West Bridge was completed, he celebrated with the elders of the whole city and enjoyed a three-day feast. He often went to Hufeng Lake in the lower reaches of the moonlight, climbed Hejiang Tower, entered Xiaoyao Hall, crossed Fengle Bridge, traveled all over the landscape of West Lake, and even reached the point of "returning at dawn". He was very happy. He lingered at the foot of Sizhou Tower in the Tang Dynasty, enjoying the shadow of the tower and Pinghu, and wrote the famous sentence "More than one mountain spits the bright moon, and the jade tower lies in the faint blue", which became one of the ten scenic spots of the West Lake.
Su Dongpo left Huizhou with another sad thing, that is, his beloved concubine Wang Chaoyun died here. Chaoyun is from Qiantang, Zhejiang. She is both clever and insightful. She was a singer of Dongpo during his official career in Hangzhou. She can't read, but she has mastered writing and studying books. Dongpo was demoted, concubines left one after another, and only she followed Dongpo for twenty-three years until death do us part. He was only 34 when he died. After her death, Dongpo and the monks in the downstairs temple buried her in the pine forest next to the temple. Legend has it that after Chaoyun's death, Dongpo still dreamed that Chaoyun went home to nurse his young son every night. Every time she comes home, she always gets wet and asks her why. Chaoyun said it was caused by wading across the lake. Dongpo woke up and built a new dike between Pinghu and Hu Feng, so Chaoyun didn't have to wade home at night, which became the origin of Su Causeway.
Dongpo has been in the West Lake for three years and has extensive contacts with people from all walks of life. Because of his popularity, many buildings in the West Lake have names to commemorate him, such as Sugong Bridge (Xixinqiao), Su Chi Temple, Dongpo Pavilion, Dongpo Temple, Su Causeway, ... and even Dongpo Pork, Dongpo Braised Pork and Dongpo Restaurant.
There are five lakes and six bridges in Huizhou West Lake. The lake covers an area of about 80 square kilometers. The five lakes are Linghu, Crocodile Lake, Pinghu, Hufeng and Nanhu. These six bridges are Xia Yan Bridge, Yingxian Bridge, Gongbei Bridge Bridge, Xixinqiao Bridge, Mingsheng Bridge and Tuanjie Bridge. Linghu Lake is located in the northwest of West Lake. There used to be Linghu Lake. Crocodile Lake is in the south of Hufeng Lake. I don't know if there were any crocodiles before, but they may be attached. Pinghu is in the east of Crocodile Lake, with Hufeng Lake in the south and Nanhu Lake in the past. Xixinqiao, which is connected to Sizhou Tower in the west, is listed as the first bridge of West Lake. It and Su Causeway are the most popular places for tourists. Xia Yan Bridge is above Linghu Lake, and now only remnants are left; Yingxian Bridge, located between the mysterious Pinghu and Zhou Fanghua, has been abandoned for a long time. Gongbei Bridge is located at the northern end of Pinghu, with stones piled up, commonly known as Wuyan Bridge; Mingsheng Bridge spans Hufeng Lake; Tong Yuan Bridge is between Hufeng Lake and Nanhu Lake. Looking north at Tong Yuan Bridge, surrounded by dikes and bridges, pavilions, criss-crossing continents and peanut trees, it was once appreciated by Lingnan painter Gao Qifeng. Ranked first in the West Lake.
The scenic spots of the West Lake are mainly between Hufeng Lake and Pinghu Lake. Among the eight scenic spots of Huizhou government governing the West Lake, there is a scene of "Hu Feng Yu Ge". I want to see how vast Hufeng Lake was at that time, with fishing boats coming and going. There are Baihuazhou, Mingyuewan, Jiuqu Bridge, Diancuizhou, Zhou Fanghua and the newly-built Cotton Tree Beach. Baihuazhou is an island in the middle of the lake, with a garden of flowers and trees. There is an exhibition hall with carved columns and stones, red walls and green tiles. Here you can see the cultural relics unearthed in Huizhou from Han Dynasty to Song Dynasty: copper coins, porcelain, kiln furniture, and revolutionary cultural relics. There is a flower bed in front of the museum.
From Sizhou Tower across Pinghu and across the newly-built Jiuqu Bridge to Diancuizhou, it is a path to swim around the lake. Diancuizhou is full of pines and bamboos, and flowers are flying. Among them, there is an old phoenix tree, like a red cloud, like a festival fireworks. There are newly-built promenades, white pavilions and antique boat-leaving pavilions on the mainland, which are among the eight scenic spots in Huizhou. Coupled with the repainted zigzag long bridge, tourists will never leave.
