Brief introduction of Xinhui academy

Xinhui Academy, also known as "He Yi Academy", is not a traditional academy building, but a Lingnan ancestral temple building with wood, stone and brick structure in the late Qing Dynasty. Because its address was originally Yamen, Xinhui County, which was chosen by a former Buddhist master, and the name of a Feng Shui master was Shangji Zhaitian, it was chosen here. The building faces south, with a symmetrical central axis and a rectangular plane. It is divided into Lingnan ancestral temple building and back seat building, * * * quad building, surrounded by walls and gardens in front and back, covering an area of 10000 square meters, with an original building area of 5400 square meters and an existing building area of 4500 square meters. The main building is 49.24 meters wide and 88.07 meters deep, with three entrances. The plane structure of each hall is 16 columns, with five rooms wide and three rooms deep, each with the same width. The other two sides, * * * three into seven rooms, are hard peaks. There are two corridors running through the courtyard, separated by a patio, and the courtyard is deep, forming a grand courtyard that is closed inside and outside. The architectural drawings of the college were designed by Hu Lin, a famous overseas Chinese architect in Xinhui. He has built Shamian World Bank in Guangzhou and Zhongshan Memorial Hall in Wuzhou, and is familiar with Chinese and western architectural styles. The Academy started construction on 1920, the main ancestral hall building was completed on 1923, and the back seat building and other projects were all completed on 1927. Its scale is second only to Guangzhou Chenjiaci in the province (with a total area of 1.5 million square meters). In the mid-1980s, the crew of the famous film Sun Yat-sen went to Xinhui Academy to shoot the set.

The plane of the academy is rectangular and divided into three halls: front, middle and back. The hall is separated by a patio, and corridors are set on both sides of the back patio. Strict layout, adequate lighting. The width of the hall is 14. 2m, with a total depth of 55. 2m。 The main hall is 9 meters high and has a single eaves and a hard mountain.

Wood structure, cloth green glazed tile, fish kiss on the ridge, painted relief.

Qian Dian was rebuilt on 2 1 (1932) for widening the road. 1982 demolition of roof tiles, 1987 reconstruction.

The depth of nave is14.5m, the granite abutment is 0.8m higher than the front hall, with five steps, stone eaves columns, beam roof truss and shed in front. Between purlin beams, there are truss arches, which are compact in structure and finely carved.

The structure of the back hall is basically the same as that of the middle hall. There is no bucket arch on the beam frame and walls are built on three sides. Granite abutment is 0.9 meters higher than the nave, with 7 steps and drum-hugging stones on both sides. The corridors on both sides between the middle hall and the back hall are also stone pillars and glazed tile roofs. The whole college building is compact in layout, strewn at random in height, solemn and quaint, and has the light and beautiful style of Lingnan ancient buildings.
