Basic information about Putong Temple
Putong Temple is located on the banks of Qunying Lake, the largest artificial lake in North China, in the western suburbs of Nangong City, Hebei Province, adjacent to the 10,000-acre provincial wetland reserve. Wandering among the green pines and cypresses, there are towering palaces, bells ringing, and the incense of Dharma overflowing. It is a Buddhist temple with a long history. In 1992, the famous eminent monk Hongchuan came here to serve as the abbot and raised funds from various sources to rebuild Putong Temple. After more than ten years of hard work, the Main Hall, Guanyin Hall, Tianwang Hall, Sanmen and other ancillary buildings were built. People from all over the country came here to practice Buddhism. The number of monks and tourists is increasing day by day, and it has been rated as an advanced religious site by superior authorities many times. The Putong Pagoda in Putong Temple is now a key cultural relic of Hebei Province.
