Peugeot 408 burning oil problem?
It has been more than six years since the car was purchased and used on 20 15/ 10/27, and it has run more than 1 17000 kilometers. After six years, there is nothing special or serious. It's just that no one is perfect and no car is perfect. There are some minor problems. Peugeot 4S stores have changed from three in 20 15 to the current 1 store. After the first insurance, the maintenance of the car is also carried out by its own garage or by purchasing raw materials such as engine oil and filter elements. The car is expensive to maintain and likes to toss. Besides, 4S is too far from home. In this way, maintenance and troubleshooting do not depend on the status quo of automobile after-sales maintenance.
Understand French automobile fuel additives
It may be a problem in the early stage of engine design, or it may be that fuel additives are added by kilometers without referring to the maintenance manual, and more and more 408 car owners are facing the problem of burning engine oil. Out of love for cars, we also have 408 (legal) car owners, from ordinary QQ group to auto parts group. French car owners are all over the world. At present, there are two maintenance schemes, one is to overhaul the engine, and the other is to use piston release agent to clean up carbon deposits. Although a new car has been ordered, considering the relationship between value preservation and six years, 408 is not ready to sell. I still want to repair and maintain it to ensure that the car is in normal condition for my own use.

At first, I was not sure how much fuel additives would affect the fuel consumption of vehicles. Let's talk briefly about the current situation of my car. From 1000 km to 6000 km without refueling, the change is obvious. I'll talk about how I operate it later. Speaking of burning engine oil, it is the most concerned issue for our 408 car owners. Although I am very satisfied with 408, I am really worried about going out to play with my riders. Others are going to the toilet at high speed, so I have to go to the high-speed service area to refuel. I am a perfectionist, and I am determined to solve the problem of burning engine oil by myself, regardless of 4S.
Comparison of several engine oil repair schemes
Many methods have been checked, and the risk of heating in the cylinder is too high; Overhaul will definitely not be done, the car will lose too much time and the parts will not be assembled well; Adding oil to repair the piston ring also feels incomplete. After all, the piston ring is caused by high temperature carbon deposition in the oil circuit after long-term combustion, so it cannot be cured. I do maintenance work, and I do medical equipment maintenance. So, I know a principle very well. As long as I find a problem and meet a method that conforms to the logic of this problem, the risk is very small and I can basically solve it.
Except for the direct injection engine, the 408 car has a waste gas valve problem, and the EFI 1.8L car has no waste gas valve problem. The problem that the two engines overlap at the same time focuses on the phenomenon that the piston ring is stuck and the oil can't be scraped clean, which leads to the engine oil participating in combustion. The continuous combustion of engine oil leads to a greater problem of carbon deposition, which leads to a more serious result of burning engine oil. Finally, ternary engine oil is also polluted, and serious carbon deposition may also lead to engine overhaul. So I am very anxious, worried about which day I will pull the cylinder, and I am eager to solve the current problem.
Do not pull the cylinder, do not repair the engine.
Here is a definite conclusion for everyone, which I learned from my acquaintances in the garage. As long as the car does not pull the cylinder, there is no need to overhaul the engine. In other words, as long as there is no serious cylinder pulling, there are too many disadvantages in overhauling the engine. But the unfamiliar garage especially wants the owner to overhaul it. On the one hand, they can practice with apprentices and middle-class workers. On the other hand, the income from overhaul is also quite rich. However, our car owners are faced with the problem of huge vehicle residual value and risk loss when the engine is installed by mechanics with different technologies. Moreover, many repair shops do not have liquid nitrogen, which can only be used after strict procedures. Without this equipment to cool the engine to above MINUS 20 degrees, it is impossible to complete the assembly of the engine, that is to say, the assembly at room temperature cannot be intact, which is too far from the original factory.

Really started to check the problem of burning oil.
Let's talk about the place of inspection first. Because the waste gas valve of this car is inside the cylinder head, it has been tested by the waste gas valve negative pressure instrument, and there is no problem. It is said that the exhaust valve of this car is rarely broken. Check the piston carbon deposit and cylinder wall in the cylinder. This link mainly depends on whether the cylinder wall is seriously worn. If the wear is serious, I can only overhaul the engine, which is the last thing I want to see. The result is no problem, as shown below.
The serious carbon deposition on the EFI piston is probably related to the fact that I never use fuel cleaner at ordinary times.
The carbon deposit on the top of the piston above is very serious, black and bright. The repair shop said it was very serious, indicating that the oil circuit burned badly for a long time, which easily caused the piston ring to stick to burning oil. Fortunately, it didn't pull the cylinder. This kind of carbon deposit will pull the cylinder if you are not careful. Pulling the cylinder is to repair the engine, so my car meets all the requirements for repairing the piston ring.
Specific repair method
According to the operation requirements of the repair shop, add three pieces of company-owned oil repair agent to the oil tank at a time, which is from the oil tank. I don't quite understand the specific principle of this, but the result is very satisfactory. As shown above
After checking half a tank of oil
I don't know why you add so many restoratives at once. Sima should be treated as a living horse doctor. After filling up with oil, I immediately went to the suburbs to pick up the weekend trip, and traveled back and forth for more than 300 kilometers. The biggest feeling of this half tank of oil is that the throttle is strong, and the feeling of pushing back is obviously enhanced when driving. I dare not give too much throttle. It's exciting to give a little A can of wobbly oil is almost used up. Come to the repair shop or have an endoscopic examination, as shown below.
The above is the change of carbon deposit on the top of four-cylinder piston. The change is obvious and unexpected. Therefore, we will resolutely continue the remaining three repair plans. The repair shop's suggestion is to repair and release the piston ring 4-5 times. Because it takes a long time, even if the piston ring is loosened, it needs a consolidation. Generally, a car like mine is released after four times, so it's better to consolidate it later. I'll do the repair plan four times first. Later, an endoscopic examination was done, as shown below.
Second review effect
The following is the result of the second tank oil inspection after driving. The endoscope before the repair shop was broken, and it was taken with a new endoscope. I feel that the definition of the new equipment is much higher.
The true colors of metals are very clear, and what everyone is most concerned about is the change of oil. Let me briefly talk about it.
After the first tank of oil, there was no relief or improvement in burning engine oil, but the power was much better and the car was particularly strong. After the second tank of oil, the dipstick did not drop to the bottom, because the previous 1000 km 1 liter of oil had to be filled with two tanks of oil. Next, check the dipstick three times for fear of making mistakes. It is true that every inspection is in the middle position. This promotion change is obvious.
The repair shop said at the time that this could be improved a lot. To tell the truth, it really makes me feel a little dreamy that the oil is changed from 1000 km to 1000 km and a half so fast. I thought I might sell the car, but I didn't want to sell it because I spent so much energy on car decoration. This change in oil consumption gives me hope.

I didn't take any photos of the subsequent changes. After all, I always go to the repair shop, which wastes time. Let's start with the final result. It has been repaired four times, and it has been driven for another 4000 kilometers. The dipstick has not been changed. In fact, after the third tank of oil, the oil has not changed. This experience has given me a bright future. Writing here, I really can't express it, but the result after the repair is very exciting.

Let's make a final summary. 408 1.8L burning engine oil is a headache for many car owners like me. The main reason is that the oil circuit is not clean at ordinary times. The manufacturer suggested cleaning the oil circuit, but this problem was ignored by 4 S. I don't know if it was for the later overhaul or I didn't notice it at all, or the owner refused. I have seen the store ask for additives, but I refused. I really didn't believe it then. After burning the engine oil, it is really cultured. This kind of education consumes time, energy and spiritual contradictions, and the cost is too high. After loosening the piston ring this time, I will always use some additives suitable for domestic fuel to prevent the oil from sticking to the cylinder again because of poor oil circuit and poor combustion. The repair shop recommended me to use this additive in the stock solution. I really believed them this time.
Although I am a naturally aspirated EFI vehicle, in fact, after this period of time, I personally understand that the direct injection 1.6T engine is also suitable for this mode, provided that other accessories are not faulty, and only the piston ring is stuck.
