Where is Yuehua Temple?

Yuehua Temple is a cultural tourist attraction.

Yuehua Temple, located in Li Meng Village, Wushi Town, Qujiang, was built by monks at the same time as Nanhua Temple. It was built during the Tian Jian period in the Southern and Northern Dynasties (505-5 19), and the monks who built the temple were all Chinese medicine monks from India.

It is said that this great monk is not only knowledgeable, but also a famous "prophet" who can judge the world for 500 years, a bit like China and Liu Bowen in the early Ming Dynasty. He said to his disciples: China is a great opportunity to promote Buddhism, so it is better to go to China to preach. So, he brought some tall feet from the sea. First arrived in China Nanhai (Guangzhou). The abbot of Guangxiao Temple in Guangzhou led thousands of monks to meet him at the dock, just as the state treated foreign heads of state as ceremoniously.

The wise medicine monk stayed in Guangxiao Temple for several days. When he left, he said to the abbot, "When I first came to your country, there was nothing on me except this little tree named Bodhi Tree. It was under this bodhi tree that the Buddha became a Taoist after six days and six nights of meditation. Now I plant it in your temple. One hundred and seventy years later, the Bodhisattva will be a monk in this tree, which will have a good performance. You can set up a monument as a record and never say it. " After that, he personally planted a bodhi tree brought from India in the temple. The abbot immediately asked the monks to worship the young tree and recite Amitabha together.

The wise medicine monk left Guangxiao Temple and continued his northward journey. The abbot of Guangxiao Temple really built an altar next to this bodhi tree and set up a monument: "After 170 years, the body bodhisattva will become a monk under this tree, which is a magic weapon." It is said that this monument is still preserved by Guangxiao Temple.

The clever medicine monk wanted to find a treasure and built a temple in China. Master and apprentice sailed up the Beijiang River and arrived at Feilai Temple in Qingyuan. The scenery looks beautiful, but the fate with Buddha is not enough. They can only hide young monks, but not big bodhisattvas. So I continued up the river. One day, the boat arrived in Baitu Town, Qujiang, and there was a stream exit in the east. The clever medicine monk saw it from a distance. The stream flowing out of the stream has not been connected with the river for a long time, and the river there is particularly handsome. He asked the boatman to drive the boat to the stream, and he squatted down and scooped up the stream with his hand to taste. Ah! You don't know if you don't drink it, but you will know its taste once. The monk said to his disciples, "This stream is very sweet. After drinking it, I felt refreshed and moistened my lungs. " I have traveled all over the world and have never tasted such a strange stream. Try to see if you all feel this way. "All the disciples scrambled to scoop up water and drink, praising in unison; Ok, ok, there must be a sacred place in this stream. Let's walk up this stream. "

It turns out that this stream mouth is called Caoxikou, and this stream is called Caoxi, which is named after it flows through Caojia Village (where the descendants of Cao Cao in the Three Kingdoms live). It originates from the famous Dabaoshan River and flows through Maba Town into Beijiang River. When Zhi Yao and his party arrived at Caojia Village (also known as Caoxi Village), they suddenly felt full of gas fields and gas fields, so they went into the mountains to observe. When he reached the top of the mountain behind the village, he looked around the mountains and saw beautiful scenery. He felt a little deja vu here and asked the locals what the mountain was called. The local people told him that this place was called Lin Baoshan. He was startled by his free will: "Yes, it's like Lin Bao in the West! Good, good! " So he said to his disciples, "We have found the holy land, so let's stop here."

The next day, the clever medicine monk went to Shaozhou to see Hou Zhongjing, a priest in Shaozhou. For the sake of popularity, let's call him "Governor Hou" here. The clever medicine monk told the Duke all the way about the treasure hunt, and finally asserted: "The Caoxi Mountain where you are located is no different from the mountain in the Western Heaven. You should build a Brahma temple here. One hundred and seventy years later, the physical bodhisattva will evolve here, which will be a magic weapon, and the enlightenment will be like a forest. "

"Governor Hou" was of course very happy when he heard of Sanzang's good medicine. There is such a treasure trove of geomantic omen in the territory under its jurisdiction, which is still underdeveloped! So he immediately told the story to the son of heaven Liang Wudi.

Liang Wudi did things more simply, and immediately sent a message to the local government of Shaozhou with a wave of his imperial pen: please ask the wise medicine monk to draw the construction drawings according to the pattern of Buddhist holy places in the West, and the "governor" of Shaozhou will personally supervise the construction of Caoxi Temple as soon as possible, and said that the court would give full help.

With the support of the emperor, it is not a problem to build a temple or a hanging garden. In just three years, a grand and majestic Buddhist temple was built, and Liang Wudi personally awarded it as "Lin Bao Dojo".

It is said that Sanzang, a wise man, did not stay in Nanhua Temple to give lectures here. He said that he didn't deserve this holy place, so he could only look at the mountain gate, so he and his disciples built a "Yuehua Temple" in Monterey, Wushiwei. After the death of the wise medicine monk, his disciples preserved his true body and enshrined it in Yuehua Temple 1400 years (until the early liberation). According to the materials investigated by the author at present, there are many opinions about the whereabouts of Zhiyao. One of the legends is that in the early days of liberation, some people wanted to put wisdom medicine into Beijiang River, because the land reform team was going to sweep away feudal superstitions. A monk (some say an old farmer) moved his real body out of a hill outside the temple in the middle of the night and buried it, thus avoiding such bad luck. Later, during the "Cultural Revolution", some local small "rebels" learned about it and looked for the cemetery of wisdom medicine everywhere. Another old farmer secretly dug up his real body and sent it to Nanhua Temple with the "Golden Pagoda" (the tile where Guangdong people put the bones of the dead), hoping to keep it in Nanhua Temple. But at that time, the disaster in Nanhua Temple was even greater. Who will have enough courage to undertake such a thing? Nanhua Temple can't even protect the six ancestors, but it will also protect the wise medicine monk. In this way, the true body of the wisdom medicine is still unknown.

Yuehua Temple has long been occupied by a factory and no longer exists. In recent years, Xin Hao, the master of Guangfeng in Furong Mountain, Shaoguan, has made great achievements in his career. So he sent his only disciple Yao Kun to Wushi to rebuild Yuehua Temple. With the support and help of the municipal religious department, the local government and the people, today Yuehua Temple reopened the mountain gate, revived Buddhism and revived the opportunity to welcome pilgrims from all directions.
