What does Emperor Wendi look like?
In November, he sent a regular servant to Sui. The emperor heard that Emperor Wendi, the ruler of the Sui Dynasty, looked different, so he came back with a portrait. When the emperor saw this scene, he was shocked and said, "I don't want to see this man!" " I am eager to screen it.
Where is the strange face of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty, so that his sworn enemy Chen would be so frightened after seeing the portrait?
Sui Shu Volume I, Emperor Ji and First Wendy Ji;
Lu Cong, June of the seventh year of Datong (according to: this day is 13th. See Volume II "Emperor Moon Hee". Renshou was born in prajna temple, Feng Yi in the summer of three years, and he was purple (according to the custom at that time, princes and nobles had to go to Buddhist temples in labor). This matter seems to be recorded in Yan Jiaxun. One of them was from Hedong and said to the slave emperor, "This son has never been very different, so you can't get along with ordinary people." I will leave my great-grandfather in another museum and bow myself. When Cong Di tried to hold Gao Zu, he suddenly saw a horn on his head and scales all over his body. The emperor was frightened and fell to the ground. When he came in from the outside, he said, "I surprised my son. I was late."
Make a dragon chin, with five pillars on the forehead, eyes coming out, and a word that says "Wang" in your hand. The upper part is long and the lower part is short, (press: this sentence needs to be read carefully: if it is the last sentence, "the upper part is long and the lower part is short" means that the word "Wang" in Emperor Wendi's hand is long and short; As a subordinate sentence, it refers to the long figure and short figure of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty. To be tested. ) the sinking is serious.
It can be seen that the strangeness of Wendi's appearance lies in the following points: 1 His forehead protrudes, and five protruding parts are directly inserted into his head from his forehead. Second, the mandible is particularly long and prominent. Third, the eyes are prominent and aggressive. Fourth, the palm print forms a "king" character. Maybe: 5. The upper body is long and the lower body is short. Shortly after his birth, his appearance surprised his mother Lu. The "horn on the head" may be the illusion that Lu looks at ugly children.
A person who looks like this must be "extremely ugly" and even "ashamed of himself" from the perspective of modern people. But in ancient times when physiognomy was developed, this appearance was "extremely expensive". If nothing else, just his prominent forehead and five meat "pillars" on his forehead are the symbols of "Long Yan". Emperor Wendi's forehead is called "dragon rhinoceros" by the terminology in the photo book. Liang (Jun) of the Southern Dynasties said in Selected Works on Life: "Dragon rhinoceros and ox horn are the watches of emperors." In the Tang Dynasty, Shan Li noted: "There is a dragon rhinoceros in the forehead, and the left corner is the sun and the right corner is the moon." In other words, this kind of "dragon rhinoceros" with hidden bones and a continuous bridge of the nose, as well as the meat "horns" formed by the forehead bulge on the left and right sideburns, are all valuable points of "king the world". There is another saying about this appearance in the photo album, which is called "dragon face wears dry". The dragon face naturally refers to the appearance of the emperor. Wearing a head and doing ancient weapons, that is, the "dry" of "fighting"-a kind of staff similar to "dry" According to the ancient books on fiber weft, Levin (Di Ku) looks like this.
So at that time, many people thought that Emperor Wendi was the emperor. In addition to He Chen quoted in Zi Jian, before Chen, many people were worried, afraid and jealous about the appearance of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty. "Sui Shu" Volume I "Emperor Ji" First "Wendy Ji" said:
The King of Qi [Yuwen] said to the emperor [Zhou Xian], "Liu Pu looks like a sword (that is, Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty), and he feels lost every time he sees it. I am afraid of inferiority, please get rid of it as soon as possible. " The emperor said, "This can only be the general's ear." The king of literature and history suddenly said to the emperor, "The crown prince is not the master of the country, but the appearance of Pu is the opposite." The emperor was unhappy and said, "There must be a destiny. What will happen? " Gaozu was very scared and hid it.
There is a deep contradiction between Yu Wenxian, Wang Gui (that is, Wu Maru Rugui) and Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty. In front of Emperor Zhou Xian, they said that if they wanted to get rid of Emperor Wendi, it was because they were "very attractive" or "opposite in appearance". Although Emperor Xian of Zhou refuted their remarks, he still insisted on calmly saying, "What if it is God's will?" In fact, he is not afraid, because he also believes that the appearance of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty is indeed "upside down". "Wendy Ji" records:
[Zhou Xian] Emperor Zhaozhao, who wanted to make a good face, looked at it and said, "It's just a pillar of the country." Then Yin said that Gao Zu said, "When the public is the king of the world, it will be decided after the slaughter. Be good at remembering bad words! "
If Emperor Xian of Zhou did not doubt the appearance of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, why did Zhao Zhao, a fortune teller, secretly observe Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty? Zhao Kuangyin himself firmly believed that Emperor Wendi of Sui was "the king of the world", so he adopted a two-faced approach: he lied to Emperor Zhou Xiandi that Emperor Wendi was only a material for "being a pillar country (official name)", and at the same time he flattered Emperor Wendi of Sui, telling him the truth and asking him to remember his predictions. Emperor Wendi himself paid a great price for his appearance. In infancy, I was almost thrown to the ground by my mother and fell to death; When I grow up, I am jealous of my colleagues and suspicious of the emperor, and I am always in danger of being killed. In this way, he had to "hide himself" and hide himself. Of course, the person who truly believes in appearance and "being the king of the world" is naturally Sui Wendi himself. He is a superstitious person and has a strong interest in fortune telling and so on. From other people's mouths and fortune-telling books, he is also confident in his appearance. "Sui Shu" Volume 50 "Biography of Pang Huang" Cloud:
At that time, Gaozu went out of Suizhou as a secretariat, passing through Xiangyang, and Wang Wei made [Pang] flaunt Gaozu. I know that Gaozu is very human and deeply complacent. And Gaozu went to Guandu and met Gaozu in Xiangyi. Gaozu is very happy. Huang said to Gaozu, "Gong is very good-looking, and his name is in the painting. On the ninth five-year plan, I am glad that I have not forgotten it. " Gaozu smiled and said, "What nonsense!"
Before Emperor Wendi became famous, Pang Huang courted Emperor Wendi because of his "extraordinary appearance" and expressed his loyalty to him, hoping that he would not forget himself when he became emperor. After hearing this, Emperor Wendi just smiled and said meaningfully, "Don't talk nonsense!" The mind of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty is obvious in this "smile". Pang Huang is not the only one who has confidence in Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty because of his appearance. In Sui Shu, you can find several examples. Such as volume 38 Zheng Yichuan cloud:
At the beginning, Gao Zu and the translator were old classmates. The translator knew that Gao Zu looked strange and fell in love with each other.
The same volume "Reuben Biography":
At that time, Gaozu was a great warrior. [Lu] knew Gaozu was an extraordinary man, and he was very motivated.
And volume on March 9, the biography of Dou Rongding:
[Dou Rongding] His wife, Gaozu's sister, has been a princess since childhood. High-impedance young and young have forged an indissoluble bond with them, and Rong Ding also knows that high-impedance has the appearance of a gentleman, especially the knot.
The above-mentioned Zheng Yi, Ruben, Dou Rongding, Zhao Zhao, Pang Huang and others all became the cronies and confidants of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty in the future, which played a very important role in usurping the throne in the Northern Zhou Dynasty and establishing the Sui Dynasty. Of course, they also enjoyed the splendor brought to them by Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty.
Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty won the world and became Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, but he was still very judge by appearances. He continued to use it to promote that he was destined to be the son of heaven. According to Sui Shu Wang Shaochuan, when Wang Shao broke the law by "privately writing national history", Emperor Wendi wanted to punish him with criminal law. However, Wang Shao is proficient in history and is good at catering. It was he who first proposed that Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty had the appearance of "bullying for the good, holding hands to fight", thus winning the favor of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty. Not only did he not get punished, but he also became a writer in North Korea and participated in the revision of national history. During Renshou's reign, Wang Shao wrote a 30-volume "The Divine Grant of the Imperial Dynasty" for Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty, combining the difference between good and bad luck and various religious views. Emperor Wendi not only ordered the book to be published worldwide, but also ordered Wang Shao to sing and read aloud at the meeting of local officials held at the end of the year. Wang Shao dare not neglect. He sang for ten days to complete the task and was rewarded by Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty.
