The Nature Conservancy is one of the most important international organizations for nature conservation, and it is committed to protecting the land and waters with important ecological values all over the world, so as to safeguard the natural environment and enhance human welfare.

The association has more than/kloc-0.00 million members in the United States, and participates in the management and protection of more than 65,438+0,600 nature reserves with a total area of 6 million hectares. In more than 30 countries in Latin America, Caribbean, Asia-Pacific and Africa, the Association and its partners have jointly protected nearly 50 million hectares of biodiversity hotspots. At present, the Association's protection work in the Asia-Pacific region involves China, Australia, Micronesia (Federated States of), Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Palau and Solomon Islands.

1998, the association was invited to China to carry out protection work, and cooperated with the Yunnan Provincial People's Government to compile the Action Plan for the Protection and Development of Northwest Yunnan, seeking protection strategies adapted to local conditions, organically combining natural ecological protection with economic development, protecting biological and cultural diversity and promoting local sustainable development. The action plan has become one of the special plans of the tenth five-year plan of Yunnan Province.

In 2002, the Association set up an office in Beijing, and successively signed cooperation framework agreements with the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Forestry Administration, the State Environmental Protection Administration, the Ministry of Water Resources, the the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office and other central ministries and commissions, and launched a series of national protection projects, including assisting in the formulation of the National Vision Plan for Biodiversity Protection, strengthening the construction and management of nature reserves, promoting green wood procurement and forest certification systems, popularizing pilot projects and international standards for forest carbon sequestration, and exploring effective ways and methods for the protection of the Yangtze River Basin. The goal is to apply the successful experience of the Association in other parts of the world to more areas in China, promote the construction of a resource-saving and environment-friendly society, and promote the sustainable development of social economy.
