The story of accumulating good deeds

Fan Zhongyan, the famous prime minister of the Song Dynasty, was very poor when he was young and lived a difficult life. He thought that if he could get ahead in the future, he would help the poor. Later, when he became prime minister, he used his salary to purchase charity fields for the poor and landless to cultivate.

Once I bought a house to live in Suzhou, a Feng Shui master praised the house highly, saying that the Feng Shui was excellent, and the descendants would surely have ministers. Fan Zhongyan thought to himself, since the feng shui of this house can make future generations noble, why not turn it into a school and let the children of the common people in Suzhou City enroll. In the future, everyone's children will be virtuous and noble. Wouldn't it be more beneficial than having the children of his own family become noble? So he immediately donated his house and turned it into a school. It fulfilled my long-cherished wish to benefit all sentient beings when I was young and poor.

Soon Fan Zhongyan’s four sons grew up, all of them were intelligent and talented, and they were promoted to prime minister, minister, and minister. The great-grandsons of the Fan family are all virtuous and distinguished, and this has been passed down for 800 years. Today, the descendants of the Fan family are still prosperous in Suzhou. Fan Zhongyan was kind-hearted and sacrificed his own interests for the benefit of others, and his merits are immeasurable. The blessings that God has rewarded to Fan's descendants are dozens or hundreds of times what Fan Zhongyan paid at that time. Without self-interest, he sowed unexpected seeds of kindness, which have continued to blossom and bear fruit for eight hundred years. He unintentionally benefited future generations and became a model of good deeds, respected and praised by the world.

Therefore, if people want to benefit their children and grandchildren, Fan Zhongyan’s good deeds are worthy of imitation.
