What does Manjusri Bodhisattva mean by offering lanterns?

Lamp is one of the six major offerings of Buddhism. Lamps represent wisdom in Buddhism, so many monasteries hold a grand ceremony to offer lanterns every year at the Christmas of Manjusri Bodhisattva, in order to pray for Manjusri Bodhisattva's kindness and quilt, and to give the lantern giver wisdom. It is in this sense that Buddhist believers often call the lamp a wisdom lamp. Offering lanterns to stupa temple can not only express devotion to Buddha and Bodhisattva, but also gain four pure merits.
