The correct way to post Spring Festival couplets
Traditional custom is that when the couplet holder faces the door, the upper couplet of the Spring Festival couplets should be posted on the right hand side (i.e., the left side of the door), the second couplet should be affixed on the left hand side (i.e., the right side of the door), and the horizontal couplets should also be posted from the right. Read left.
The Spring Festival couplets posted on the door include the upper couplet, the lower couplet, and the horizontal scroll. Only when the Spring Festival couplets are completely posted on the door can it be a sign of warding off evil spirits, eliminating disasters, and welcoming good fortune. The upper and lower couplets of Spring Festival couplets are generally read horizontally. Generally speaking, the couplets are attached from the side where the horizontal batch is read. In ancient my country, people wrote and read from right to left, so horizontal batches were also read from right to left, so the first couplet was posted on the right side of the door.
Things to note when pasting Spring Festival couplets: 1. When pasting Spring Festival couplets, it is best for two people, one person to post the couplets, and one person to help check whether they are posted crookedly. 2. When applying the paste, don’t apply it to the edge of the couplet, don’t apply too much, just the right amount. To avoid squeezing out the paste and getting it all over your hands when patting and pressing.
