Uncover the mystery of Bodhi's ancestor's life experience

Want to know the life experience of Bodhi's ancestor? Don't worry, let me speak slowly.

1. The Journey to the West is closely related to The Romance of the Gods

I think you will be familiar with the Ming Dynasty works The Journey to the West and The Romance of the Gods. The myths derived from the two works, such as "the Monkey King makes a scene in Heaven" and "What makes a scene in the sea", are even more household names, and everyone knows them. Although the two novels tell stories of different dynasties, the characters in them are inextricably linked. You, such as Li Jing, Nezha, Mu Bai, Yang Jian and others, are reflected in both books. In the Romance of the Gods, Manjusri Guangfa Tianzun, Pu Xian Zhenren, Kindness Channel Man, and Burning Lamp Man, after several years, have been rehabilitated and joined Buddhism. Later, they became Manjusri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Guanyin Bodhisattva and the ancient Buddha burning lanterns.

These characters have also appeared in The Journey to the West. In addition, there is a legend circulating in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China: "Nezha found the Gankun bow and the thundering arrow on the tower, so he accidentally shot and killed the Biyun boy, a disciple of the Shijie Empress. Empress Shijie talked to Nezha, but Nezha couldn't beat Shijie, so she fled to Taiyi. Taiyi real people burned Empress Shijie to death with the Kowloon Shenhuo hood. It turned out to be a stone (this stone was described in the original book "Feng Shen": this stone was born outside Huang Zhi, heaven and earth, and was refined into an elf through fire, water and wind). Nezha fell it to Huaguo Mountain. A few years later, the stone burst and a stone monkey was the Monkey King. When he was making a scene in the Heavenly Palace, he beat Nezha until he vomited blood, just to avenge his past life. " It can be seen that there is a great relationship between the two works, and there is a possibility that one work will follow another.

2. Brief introduction of The Journey to the West and the powerful figures in the Romance of the Gods

1. The second giant of The Journey to the West

A. Tathagata Buddha

Tathagata Buddha is the revered Buddha of Sakyamuni in the western paradise, and there is no Amitabha Buddha in the south. On the summit of the vulture in Tianzhu Lingshan, Hezhou, Xi Niu, Zhang Liujin was cultivated. This man is miraculous and powerful. As soon as he appeared, he solved the great disaster in heaven. Later, he showed his skill many times and helped Wukong break through many hardships. It can be called the Big Mac in The Journey to the West.

(It should be noted here that in The Journey to the West, Sakyamuni and Amitabha are the same figure)

B. Bodhi ancestor

Bodhi ancestor is an overseas immortal. He lives in seclusion in the deep mountains and does not show his feet. Although the magic is boundless, it is unknown. It took only three years for this great fairy to make the Monkey King learn the skill of immortality, seventy-two changes and the ability to control the somersault cloud. This laid a good foundation for Wukong to make a scene in the Heavenly Palace and finally become a fight against Buddha. It can be seen that Bodhi is by no means an idle generation.

2. Five leaders of the Romance of the Gods

A. Laozi

Laozi is the great disciple of Hongjun's bodhi old zu, who is in charge of people's education (some people say that he is the head of teaching). He went down the mountain three times to help explain the power of teaching and stop teaching the immortals. Also once a gasification three clean-ups, defeated Tongtian hierarch. In the The Journey to the West, he lived in the heaven where he hated, and he was the mixed ancestor of Taiqing Holy Land, one of the leaders of Sanqing religion-Taishang Daozu, commonly known as Taishang Laojun.

B. Yuanshi Tianzun

Yuanshi Tianzun is the second disciple of Hongjun's ancestor, who is in charge of explaining religion. He has many disciples, many of whom are famous. Three Buddhas, such as Manjusri, Pu Xian and Guanyin in Buddhism, and the scared grandson Buddha in "seven buddha in the past" were all his disciples. Even the famous ancient Buddha who lit lanterns was once a master of teaching. In addition, Erlang God Yang Jian, Third Prince Nezha, Tota King Li Jing and others are also disciples of the Yuan Dynasty. Later, the Buddha of the Yuan Dynasty became the head of Sanqing Sect-the innate ancestor of Jade Qing Holy Land in The Journey to the West.

C. Leader of Tongtian

Leader of Tongtian is the third disciple of the ancestor Hongjun, who is in charge of the interception of religion. His disciples are the most, but most of them are birds and animals. But he also made a lot of contributions to heaven. Like the jade emperor's 28 stars, tripterygium wilfordii, Dian Mu and Putian astrology, almost all of them are his disciples. After listening to the slanderers of disciples, the leader of Tongtian set up an array of two immortals, "Zhu" and "Wan", blocking Jiang Ziya's way. Later, thanks to the concerted efforts of the four religious leaders, they broke the second array. He is another leader of Sanqing Sect-Lingbao Tianzun, the ancestor of Tongtian in Shangqing Holy Land.

D. the evangelist

the evangelist is the leader of western religion and lives in the land of western bliss. The man is six feet tall and has a yellow face. I haven't been away from a quiet place for years. Later, at the invitation of others, the three relics took down the gate of killing immortals and broke the evil array with Lao Zi and Yuan Shi.

e. quasi-Taoist

quasi-Taoist is the second leader of western religion. I have been to Dongtu for many times. He is much more open-minded than the guide, and has helped to explain and solve the crisis many times. This man can be said to be smart and capable. The blessing pestle and the wonderful tree of seven treasures in his hand are really magical. The result of the confrontation between Tongtian leader and him was one draw and two losses.

3. The Journey to the West's search for clues

In Journey to the West, the Monkey King's master, Bodhi, is an immortal in the world. Because the Monkey King only studied Daoism in Sanxing Cave for seven years, and learned martial arts for three years, he tore down the Hall of Lingxiao, so many people also took great interest in his master. So who is this person? Not even a clue was left in The Journey to the West? The answer is no.

Let's look at the residence of Bodhi's father first. Bodhi's father lived in seclusion in Hezhou, Xi Niu, "Lingtai Square Inch Mountain, Xieyue Samsung Cave". The word "square inch mountain" in Lingtai is "Lingshan", and "slanting moon" and "Samsung" are all things in the sky, which obviously implies "sky". Put them together, it is "Lingshan in the sky" (another explanation says that "Lingtai Square-inch Mountain, Three-star Cave on the Oblique Moon" is actually a word "heart", which is also very reasonable, but it is not the only explanation after all). And we know that Tathagata Buddha (again, Tathagata Buddha in The Journey to the West is both Sakyamuni Buddha and Amitabha Buddha. That is to say, at that time, most people represented by Mr. Wu thought that Sakyamuni Buddha was Amitabha Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha was Sakyamuni Buddha. The author called him Tathagata Buddha. ) I just lived in the Da Lei Yin Temple in the "Tianzhu Lingshan" in Hezhou, Xi Niu. Are there any secrets and clues between these two famous mountains? Is there any connection between Bodhi and Tathagata Buddha?

When the Monkey King first met Bodhi's ancestor, Wu Cheng'en described this worldly old fairy as follows: "See the Bodhi's ancestor sitting on the stage, with thirty fairies standing on both sides. Sure enough: I feel that Jin Xian is not dirty, and the West is a wonderful ancestor of Bodhi; I can't live for three or three lines, and I am full of enthusiasm and kindness. " (See The Journey to the West for the first time).

It can be seen that the founder of Bodhi is also a respected person in the West. "Bodhi Tree" is a symbol of Western Buddhism. Is Bodhi the founder of Buddhism and Taoism? If he is a "Buddha", why does he know so much about Taoist culture? If he is "Tao", then why does the author describe this mysterious old fairy with "Bodhi, the ancestor of the West"?

4. Find the answer in Romance of Gods

In The Journey to the West's book, we can't decipher the true identity of Bodhi's founder. But we know that the characters in The Journey to the West are closely related to the characters in The Romance of Gods. I have said this before. The bodhi patriarch in The Journey to the West gives the impression that Buddhism and Taoism are one. In the Romance of the Gods, there is a Taoism that looks like a Buddha rather than a Buddha-Western religion. There are two leaders in western religion, who are boundless in power and miraculous. He once helped Taishang Laojun and Yuanshi Tianzun to break the "Zhu Xian Array" and "Wan Xian Array" laid by Tongtian Master. It can be called the two top masters of the Romance of the Gods. These two leaders, one is called Jieyin Taoist and the other is Zhunti Taoist. Have they ever appeared in The Journey to the West? If they did, in what capacity did they appear in The Journey to the West?

1. The Taoist priest VS Tathagata Buddha

The Taoist priest lives in the land of western bliss, with a height of 36 feet and a yellow face. Can't help but remind people of the Tathagata Buddha who has been cultivated into a golden body in The Journey to the West. They are so similar in appearance, and they are both in charge of the western paradise. Could they be the same person? With such doubts, I read two famous books carefully and saw that the descriptions of them by the two authors were so similar. The author writes like this:

A. The following paragraph is taken from the seventy-eighth chapter of The Romance of the Gods, and the author describes the Taoist:

The Taoist came to the east with the permission of the Taoist. I saw my foot stepping on Xiangyun, and suddenly I came to Lupeng. Guang Chengzi came to Lao Zi and Yuan Shi and said, "The two western teachers are very respectful." Laozi and Yuanshi led all the people to meet them under the tent. See a person, standing six feet tall. But see: < P > Daxian smells like dates and pears barefoot, and it is even more unusual to step on Xiangyun;

Twelve lotus stands perform magic weapons, and the edge of Bade pool shows white light.

Shoutong Heaven and Earth are right and wrong, while Fubi Hongbo is crazy;

after completing the relic's name, the leisure bliss is the west.

In other words, Lao Zi and Yuan Shi greeted each other, took them to Lu Peng, kowtowed and sat down.

B. Let's look at the seventh time in The Journey to the West, and the author's description of the Tathagata Buddha:

I saw the barefoot immortal arrive again. After bowing to the Jade Emperor, he thanked the Buddha and said, "I am deeply impressed by my magic, and I surrender to the demon monkey. There is nothing to show respect for, especially two pears and several fire dates. " The poem says:

Daxian is barefoot and fragrant with dates and pears. It's a long life to pay tribute to Mituo.

The seven treasures of the Lotus Hill are as steady as the others, and the golden flower stands like brocade.

shou tong's words are right and wrong, and fu bi Hongbo's words are crazy.

As scheduled, longevity is really a paradise in the west.

Tathagata is also called thanks. Tell Ah Nuo and Jia Ye to put away all the offerings and give a thank-you banquet to the Jade Emperor.

C. In the Romance of the Gods, there is another passage:

On the top of the Taoist priest, three Buddhist relics appeared and shot the sword. That sword is as sure as nails. How can it come down? The western hierarch entered the gate of killing immortals until he stopped at the gate of killing immortals.

after reading the above three points, I think everyone should have some idea. What do these three points mean? Judging from the relic on the head of the guide. We know that this person is not an ordinary Taoist. He will be a Buddhist in the future. So who is the Buddhist who receives the Daoist? According to the investigation, there is a big Buddha in Buddhism called Jieyin Buddha, that is, vertical Amitabha Buddha. Presumably, after years of practice, this Taoist priest has become a well-known Amitabha Buddha. I have said more than once before that there is Amitabha (Buddha of Sakyamuni) in The Journey to the West, and he is also called Tathagata Buddha. The original text reads like this: "The Tathagata smiled and said,' I am the venerable Sakyamuni in the western paradise, and there is no Amitabha in the south.' See The Journey to the West for the seventh time. ". So the answer is revealed, and the Taoist priest in The Romance of Gods is the Tathagata Buddha in The Journey to the West. After countless seasons, Western religion has evolved into a new religion-Western Buddhism. The Taoist priest himself became the master of Buddhism-Tathagata Buddha.

2. quasi-Taoist priest VS bodhi patriarch

let's take a look at the two authors' comments on the other two:

a. quasi-Taoist priest made his first appearance, see the sixty-first chapter of the Romance of the Gods:

After hearing this, Manjusri Guangfa Tianzun was called, "Brother Dao, keep people by the sword!" Guangfa Tianzun recalled that he could not recognize who this person was; Wearing a double bun and a Taoist robe, the Taoist priest said, "Thank you!" Guangfa Tianzun replied, saying, "Where do Taoist friends come from? What do you want to see?" The Taoist said, "Brother Dao didn't recognize me, so I said everything, and I knew the end:

I felt that Jin Xian was the best, and the western wonderful method was Bodhi;

if you don't give birth, you can't destroy three or three lines, and you are full of energy and kindness.

emptiness changes naturally, just like nature does;

The solemn style of sharing the same life with heaven robbed exorcist of his bright heart.

Taoist priest said, "Being original is a must for Taoist priests under Western teaching."

B. The bodhi patriarch made his debut, and he met The Journey to the West for the first time:

I saw the bodhi patriarch sitting on the stage, with thirty immortals standing on both sides. Sure enough:

I feel that Jin Xian is not dirty, and the western beauty is the ancestor of Bodhi;

if you don't give birth, you can't destroy three or three lines, and you are full of energy and kindness.

emptiness changes naturally, just like nature does;

The solemn style of sharing the same life with heaven robbed exorcist of his bright heart.

after reading the above two poems, what do you think? Do you think that Wu Cheng'en and Xu Zhonglin are portraying the same character again? What are the coincidences between Bodhi and Zhunti? Let's first take a look at who the Taoist priest in the Romance of the Gods is. As mentioned earlier, Taoist Zhunti is the second master of western religion and a very open-minded person. He has also visited the East for many times, and he knows a lot about Oriental Taoism. Since he is the second leader of western religion (later Buddhism), he must know Buddhist culture like the back of his hand. The founder of Bodhi in The Journey to the West, like Buddha and Taoism, is a master who combines Buddhism and Taoism. Bodhi is the root of Buddhism, and western Taoism is the source of Buddhism. It can be seen that the founder of Bodhi has a deep relationship with Western Taoism (the predecessor of Buddhism). Counting, I'm afraid the only people who dare to call themselves the founders of Bodhi are the two leaders of Western religion. At that time, there were only two leaders of Western religion. One is the guide, who is the Tathagata Buddha later; The other is the quasi-Taoist we mentioned earlier. Taoist priests are not interested in Oriental Taoism. This matter can be seen from Guang Chengzi's borrowing flags from the West. At that time, when he was informed of Guang Chengzi's purpose, he said, "Being poor in the West is pure and inaction, which is different from being noble. See me with flowers, I see him, he is like a lotus flower, not a guest in the southeast twice; This flag is afraid of provoking the world of mortals and dare not do it. " It can be seen that the Taoist priest doesn't know about Oriental Taoism, and in his view, Oriental Taoism and Western Taoism are completely different and incompatible. Obviously, the guide must not be the founder of Bodhi. In other words, Bodhi was not the Tathagata Buddha. Presumably, he will not be a disciple of the Tathagata, Xu Bodhi. On the other hand, Zhunti Taoist is the great benefactor of Oriental Taoism. It was he who persuaded the Taoist priest to lend Guang Chengzi the violet and precious color flag, and it was he who persuaded the Taoist priest to help Lao Zi and destroy the large array of immortals at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. It can be seen that Zhunti Taoist is also closely related to Oriental Taoism. From this point of view, both Zhunti Taoist and Bodhi founder have the characteristics of both Buddhism and Taoism and boundless magic. In addition, the descriptions of these two masters by the two authors are so close that it can be inferred that Zhunti is Bodhi and Bodhi is Zhunti.

5. The answer is revealed

Based on this, we can judge that the founder of Bodhi is the Taoist priest, and the Buddha is the Taoist priest. Bodhi and Tathagata used to share western religion. Later, I don't know how many years have passed, and earth-shaking changes have taken place in the western religion. The Taoist priest renamed the western religion Buddhism, and he became the Tathagata Buddha himself, and changed his "office location" to the Da Lei Yin Temple in Tianzhu Lingshan, Hezhou, Xi Niu. Zhunti Taoist is also in Xi Niu He Zhou.
