When does catkin fly?
Catkin, the seed of willow, is called "catkin" because it has white fluff and flies with the wind, just like catkin. In addition, the time of catkin fluttering is closely related to meteorological conditions such as region, temperature and light.
For example, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang and other places have southerly latitudes and higher temperatures, and catkins fly earlier than Beijing. The catkin flying time in Beijing is generally between April 15 and May 15, lasting about half a month. Meteorologists say that dryness, high temperature, abundant sunshine, low humidity and certain wind speed are all easy to cause catkins to drift.
On sunny days, 10 in the morning to 16 in the afternoon is the high incidence of catkin flying. In the morning and evening, with the decrease of temperature and wind, catkin flying decreases.
The method of willow spreading seeds
1, wind propagation
Mother willow can spread seeds through the wind. Its seeds have many white hairs called catkins. When the seed is mature, it is easy to fall off. As soon as the breeze blows, they will rise with the wind and be blown everywhere. After landing, it began to take root and sprout, but the survival rate was low.
2. Animal transmission
The catkins on mother Liu are sticky. When birds stay on the branches, catkins will stick to their feathers, and then they will be taken far away with the migration of birds. In addition, pine trees, butterflies and bees can help willow trees spread seeds, thus spreading them widely.
3. Streaming transmission
Willow is usually planted on the river bank. When the seeds are ripe, catkins will fall into the water, then float far away with the current, and then germinate and grow on the shore. This mode of transmission has the highest survival rate, because the soaked seeds have higher germination rate and the soil on the river bank is soft and moist.
