The origin of the name of Wenru Square

The former residence of Chen Yan, a famous poet in Qing Dynasty and the author of Poems on Yi Shi, is also here. It is a mansion facing south, and Guanghua Pavilion is the landlord who studies for his disciples. Adjacent to Chen Yu is the residence of Professor Ke Ling Han, a famous modern jurist. This studio is famous for its many scholars and Confucian scholars. Formerly known as Yin Shan Lane, formerly known as Rulin Square. Zheng Mu, a drinker in the Song Dynasty, lived here and changed to a Confucian school. Because in addition to Zheng Mu, there are other scholarly families, such as Nine Magistrates, Taiwan Province Company Commander Gan, anti-Japanese famous soldiers, seven provincial managers Chen, the father of Emperor Guangxu's mentor Chen, and the editor-in-chief of Fujian Tongzhi, so it is called scholarly family.

In its original state, Wenru Square is a tree-lined road that runs through a hill. These hills were later surrounded by tall wind walls and firewalls, forming a deep house compound, so the original name was Yin Shan Lane. When the hill disappeared, the shade trees disappeared again, and all the people living in the workshop called themselves "Confucian scholars", so they changed their names to "Confucian Lane", further shutting out Ding Bai. In Song Dynasty, Zheng Mu, the "Dean" of imperial academy, the highest institution of higher learning in China, settled here. The villagers were proud of this and turned it into a "scholar's workshop" with a stroke of a pen. Hundreds of civil and military officials in Ming and Qing dynasties once lived here, including famous anti-Japanese soldiers in Ming dynasty, commander-in-chief of Taiwan army in Qing dynasty, scholar Chen of Five Dynasties in Qing dynasty, modern poet Zhang Yan and modern astronomer Gaul in China.

Cities will grow, and so will alleys. Wenru Square was originally just an alley at the northern foot of Wushan Mountain. According to the saying that it is cloudy in the north and sunny in the south, this square was commonly known as "Yin Shan Lane" before it was officially named. According to the practice of geomantic omen, people who live in building houses are generally willing to choose the southern foot of the mountain. Because of the long sunshine time and warm atmosphere in Shan Zhinan, it is suitable for all things to grow. However, the topography of Fuzhou is quite special. There are many peaks and mountains outside the city, and there are three mountains in the city. The ancient city was originally within the three mountains, and later the three mountains were incorporated into the urban area. There is an inherent saying that "the city is in the mountains and the mountains are in the city". The yin of Wushan is the yang of Pingshan. From a large position, the whole city of Fuzhou is at the southern foot of Beiling Mountain System, so every household in Fangxiang can be called "Xiangyang Family". Moreover, the three mountains in this city are less than 100 meters high, and the sun shines as bright as the north and south of the mountain.

From this point of view, the name of this musty "Yin Shan" lane will be changed sooner or later. The opportunity to change its name is precisely in this alley that a group of great scholars came out. Before The Scholars came out, The Scholars had such a good reputation. Confucius, a sage, is willing to lead all his disciples on the journey of becoming an official after joining the WTO. This seems to have the same effect as Buddhism's compassion for others and wishing everyone to become a Buddha. Yin Shan Lane, on the one hand, residents are more and more concentrated, and "Lane" has gradually become a "Fang"; On the one hand, scholars keep going to the outside world, integrate into the mainstream society, and have made achievements in their own countries. Therefore, when the name of the workshop was decided in the Song Dynasty, the nickname "The Scholars Workshop" naturally came into being. After living in this alley, Zheng Mu, who presided over imperial academy, the highest institution in China, changed his name to "Wen Ru Fang" through the efforts of a word teacher. "There is a scholar in laughter, but there is no Ding Bai in friendship", so the humble room is not humble.
