Where is Puning Peifeng Tower located?
Puning Peifeng Tower is a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province.
It is located in Houkeng Village, Hongyang Town, Puning. Because it belonged to Wuli Township in ancient times, it is commonly known as "Wuli Tower". It was built in the seventh year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty (1742). It is a Feng Shui tower built with Sanhe soil. There are unique inward turning stone steps to climb to each floor, and there are windows on each floor to look out. The eaves of the tower are made of red bricks. There is a caisson on the seventh floor. The top of the tower is composed of a large gourd and its three-wheeled lotus supporting a small pig-iron gourd weighing more than a thousand kilograms. It is unique. The Peifeng Pagoda is elegant in shape and majestic. It has stood majestically for more than 200 years and is the "Peifeng Pagoda" among the "Eight Scenic Spots of Puning".
The tower is 36 meters high, has seven floors, is octagonal in plan, and has a mixed structure of brick and earth. The body of the tower is made of three-piece rammed earth, which is rare among domestic towers. The side of the tower base is 9.8 meters long, and the tower base is 1.65 meters high. Nine steps are built to go up to the platform. There are railings above and below the tower base. A pair of stone geese and a pair of stone lions are carved on the railing pillars, which are vivid in shape. Under the first floor of the tower, the side length is 3.9 meters, the surrounding elders are 31.2 meters, and the height of the tower is 31.7 meters. Each floor in the tower is hollow. The wall of the first floor is 2.55 meters thick and each side is 1.5 meters long. The tower body gradually shrinks to the seventh floor, with each side only 0.71 meters long. There is only one door at the base of the tower to enter the tower cavity. The tower door faces west, with a door width of 1.3 meters and a height of 2.77 meters. It has a vaulted roof and an inscription on the stone door frame: Seven levels of high-rise towers leading to the tower, and thousands of peaks surrounding the arch. There are inner turning stone steps in the tower cavity that can be used to climb up to each floor. There are up to 120 inner turning stone steps. There are four doors (windows) on each floor above the first and second floors, and the four doors (windows) on adjacent floors are staggered with each other. It is not only beautiful, but also allows people to look out in all directions from the interior of each floor. The eaves of the tower are made of red bricks. There is a caisson built into the tower cavity on the highest floor (seventh floor) and a corridor outside. There is a stone pillar at each corner of the corridor. The pillars are made of curly grass patterns with tiles and Sanhe soil. The stone shape is elegant and beautiful. The pagoda is in the shape of an iron cast wheel and a vase.
Houteng Village: Houkeng Village: Houkeng Village is located at the northern end of Hongyang Town, at the intersection of Provincial Highway 1930 and Mawu Line, 2 kilometers away from Hongyang Township, and one of the "Eight Scenic Spots" in Puning. "Peifeng Tower" stands in the village with convenient transportation. The village has a current population of 2,349 people, an area of 1.5 square kilometers, and a cultivated land area of 1,000 acres. It is a plain area with a purely agricultural economy. The economic income of the villagers is average, and most of them are engaged in farming, mainly including grain, vegetables, seedlings, etc. The branch currently has 34 party members, 5 village "two committee" cadres, and an annual collective economic income of more than 30,000 yuan.
