World Day to Combat Desertification, 19941February 919 The forty-ninth United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 49/15 on the recommendation of the Second Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. From 1995, June 17 was designated as "World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought" to further raise people's awareness of the importance of combating desertification in the world and arouse people's sense of responsibility and urgency.
