The Huxin Pavilion was built by Pan Yunduan, Chief Secretary of Sichuan during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. It is one of the interior scenes of Yuyuan Garden and is named Fuyi Pavilion. In the 19th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1784), cloth merchants Zhu Yunhui, Zhang Fuchen and others raised funds to rebuild the former site of Fuyi Pavilion into a Huxin Pavilion as a place for cloth merchants to gather and discuss business. The teahouse was opened in the fifth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1885), making it the earliest teahouse in Shanghai. The original name was also Xuan, then it was changed to Wanzaixuan, and now the old name of Huxin Pavilion has been restored.

The Huxinting Tea House can accommodate more than 200 people for tea tasting.
