It has the characteristics of no impurities, smooth, strong viscosity, easy drying and not easy to be damaged by rain and sun. It is reported that in the past, citizens would add milk, sugar, milk powder and other items to the white ash, but since last year, the Potala Palace Management Office has stopped adding such items to the white ash. Paint ingredients will be purchased in a unified way according to the scientific and reasonable ratio.

Because milk has a shelf life, it will deteriorate if it is painted on the wall for a long time, making the white ash fall off easily. The head of the maintenance section of the Potala Palace Management Office said. Especially in the rainy season, it will accelerate the large-scale shedding of wall white ash, which will greatly affect the beauty of Potala Palace and the safety of wall buildings.
