Notice of Wuhan Baotong Temple to suspend its opening to the outside world during the Spring Festival of 2022

Near the Spring Festival, many temples in Wuhan have announced that they will be closed during the Spring Festival. According to the latest announcement of Baotong Temple, they will be closed from February/kloc-0 to June, 2022 (the first day to the sixth day of the first lunar month) and reopened on February 7 (the seventh day of the first lunar month). Details of the announcement are as follows.

Informing that the Spring Festival is approaching, Baotong Temple decided to suspend its opening to the outside world from February/kloc-0 to 6, 2022 (the first day to the sixth day of the first lunar month) and resume its opening on February 7 (the seventh day of the first lunar month). During the suspension of the opening of the temple, the second-order people of our temple returned to all beings in the legal world with merits such as chanting scriptures and worshipping Buddha, and sincerely prayed for world peace, national prosperity and security, favorable weather and early elimination of the epidemic.

After the temple is reopened, the system of "one entry, one sweep, one measurement and one registration" will be implemented, and measures such as code scanning, temperature measurement and wearing masks will be strictly implemented. The opening hours are from 7 am to 4 pm. Kindhearted believers and pilgrims are requested to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control requirements and obey the guidance arrangements of the on-site staff.

Thank you for your concern and support for Baotong Temple. I hereby call on everyone to take preventive measures, reduce unnecessary travel and gathering activities during the Spring Festival, pay attention to wearing masks and washing hands frequently, develop good public health behavior norms and improve their immunity.

During the Spring Festival, Baotong Temple Guest Hall will continue to provide good services for everyone. If you need to make an appointment for Buddhism, register memorial tablets, offer food and monks, you can call the guest room to handle it.

Introduction to Baotong Temple Baotong Temple, located at the southern foot of Hongshan Mountain in Wuchang, has been listed as a "National Key Buddhist Temple in Handi" by the State Council and a key cultural relic protection unit in Hubei Province.

Its historical evolution can be traced back to 1600 years. Baotong Temple was built in the Southern Dynasties during the Liu and Song Dynasties, and it was renamed in the Tang and Song Dynasties, so it was named Chongning manjuji by Emperor Li Zong. In the subsequent Yuan Dynasty, not only the Hongshan Pagoda was built, but also manjuji was almost destroyed by its annual war. After three years of twists and turns, Yuan Zhishun spent a lot of money to rebuild Baotong Temple, which amazed the world. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the scale of its buildings increased greatly, and later its temple was named "Baotong Temple", which has been in use ever since.

Baotong Temple embodies the aesthetic elegance and wisdom of the ancients in its architectural structure. Its temples are surrounded by stairs, and the exquisite guard corridors are matched with stone lions of the Ming Dynasty to separate small or magnificent buildings. Above Hongshan Pagoda, you can see the Yellow Crane Tower above Sheshan in the distance. Under the principle of geomantic omen, it also reflects the builder's deep understanding of points, lines and surfaces.

At the same time, Baotong Temple is famous for its golden ginkgo in the beautiful moonlight of 12. Standing on the steps of the Hall of Great Heroes, with an incense burner, is a golden meditation, listening to the voice of the Buddha.
