8 photography tips to help you take photos in a good mood even on cloudy and rainy days

The 7-day holiday is over and the update will be resumed.

When traveling, we all look forward to good weather.

But this Golden Week traveler encountered the dilemma of raining every day for the first time in the Czech Republic.

Yes, a 7-day trip, every day.

Therefore, during this trip, I was constantly battling with the weather.

But fortunately, the lens can be deceiving. With some clever "camouflage", you can still take good photos in bad weather.

Below, I will use a few photos to explain how I take photos on rainy days.

It’s rainy, so the photos taken during the day will be somewhat gray and dim. But at night, when the lights are on, the effect of weather on the photos will become insignificant.

In the past seven days, I have to take a tripod out every night to take pictures of the night scene.

At this time, the lights are bright and there are few passers-by, which is especially suitable for concentrating on creation.

Although it is difficult to see the sunrise and sunset on cloudy and rainy days, because the sun is lower at this time, the color of the clouds can still occasionally surprise people.

Even if you don’t encounter the Huoshaoyun, it will still look better than during the day.

So, if you want to shoot a blockbuster film on a rainy day, you have to get up early and go to bed late, just one word: tired.

3. The unique atmosphere after the rain

The stone roads in Europe will show a bright luster after the rain.

In fact, this is also a benefit of rain. Especially in the early morning or evening, when the street lights are on, the light and shadow will show beautiful reflections on the stone pavement.

Moreover, the grass and walls decorated by rain will make the overall atmosphere of the photo appear clearer, giving it a unique sense of desolation in conjunction with the late autumn season.

When shooting in the rain, there are two scenes that you must not miss.

The first is the person holding the umbrella.

Especially in night scenes, umbrellas are very good concave props.

For example, in this photo, I found a doorway in the street. The light inside and the shadow outside formed a huge contrast, so I aimed the camera at the doorway and waited for the person holding an umbrella to walk by. , and then, shoot the silhouette.

In this photo, the door opening is replaced by an alleyway, and the silhouette of an umbrella is also shot with the help of light and shadow.

5. Reflection

The second scene that cannot be missed is reflection.

Find a small puddle, lower your lens, and shoot the reflection.

Even though what I photographed is just an ordinary building, it still feels very artistic.

Of course, rainy days do not mean that you cannot shoot during the day. As mentioned before, photos taken during the day will be very dim, so you should try your best to add some color to the photos at this time. Take more photos of bright and vivid colors such as red, yellow, and blue. This can balance out the overly gloomy tones on rainy days.

Fortunately, most houses in the Czech Republic have orange roofs and colorful walls, and the photos taken are very gorgeous.

Use some green plants to blur the foreground and add bright colors to your photos.

7. Take less pictures of the sky

On cloudy and rainy days, there is no distinction between front and back light, and the sky will always be white when photographed. Therefore, if the scenery and architecture are outstanding enough, it is recommended to use more telephoto and less wide-angle.

Secondly, telephoto can compress the sky as much as possible and weaken the shortcomings.

In the face of rainy days, the most straightforward way is of course to turn to black and white. As long as the photo is humanistic enough, it will have a better feeling after being converted into black and white.

The photos are still being sorted out, and the first part is from the mobile phone.

I will share more films with you later as they become available.

The last thing I want to say is that the Czech roasted elbow is so cheap, I miss it very much...
